Hey, I'm new to paintball, and I have a difficult decision to make.
There are two markers I've been looking at, the Spyder Victor 2, and the Spyder TL-X.
I live in canada, so that limits me to a few sites to buy equipment.
For the Spyder TL-X, I've been looking at a package that comes with:A stock TL-X, a 20oz Co2 tank with on/off, A proto EL mask, a basic hopper and 500 balls. That amounts to 257$
My other option is the Victor 2, which is not for sale on that site, so I'll buy one from a pro shop up. (I'm estimation 80$ for the gun alone.) With a proto EL mask, 20oz on/off with a siphon filter Co2, and a standard hopper, it'll come to about 180-200$.
Now, I've heard that the TL-X is extremely durable and fairly accurate with stock. I've heard that the Victor 2 is fairly durable, but can't shoot accurately past 50 feet with stock. Now my question is: Is the TL-X worth that extra 60-80$? I'll be playing both recball and woodsball, and I plan to get gun camo for either gun.
So which package should I go with? I might have to get it off christmas and birthday money (my birthday is in Jan.) I will probobly be getting a job after new years at sports check. (Making, most likely, minimum wage, add maybea a buck or two.)
So which package do you think I should go with? Any help would be appriciated. And please don't go ranting "omg spyder suks."

I don't think the TL-X is worth the extra money. The Victor 2 is essentially the same thing, and the stock barrels are similar (or maybe the same).

Just buy the Victor 2 and with the money you save buy a good barrel, check stickies for good barrels. With the same barrel both guns shoot the same accuracy.

They are both mechanical stacked tube blow backs, they will operate identicly. Get the Victor 2. The most important peice of gear you buy is your mask. Go for a thermal. Take a look at the JT spectra, and the V-force shield thermal. You will just end up replacing your non-thermal mask once you play with it a few times.

Yes the TL-X is a better choice. My freind has a Victor 2 and the stock barrel is the worst I have ever seen. GET THE TL-X!!!!! No ranting here.... I like Spyders!
Plus the Victor II has a Plastic bottom receiver...(trigger frame)... Plastic is JUNK!!!!!

Pics would be great, thanks.
Well, the only reason that I'd choose the TL-X is because of its durability. Though I've heard that it can only top 6-7bps, is that true? Would the rof improve with a new bolt. (I plan on getting an anti-chop bolt.)

No, the bolt won't help with the fire rate. 6-7 is about the max unless you upgrade to an electronic trigger frame.
The rest of your package looks quite good. Tom_D mentioned he advantage of a thermal mask. Well, the Switch EL just needs a replacement thermal lens ($25-30 Can.),and then it becomes just as good as a Switch FS.

Atleast with that rate of fire, I won't really have to worry about a mechanical hopper soon. I plan to get the AC bolt first anyways. Thanks for the advice.

Any aftermarket bolt is not realy worth the money untill you go electro. Get the gun and the thermal mask.
Ups

-#2 Clamping feedneck
-#3 regulator or HPA
-#4 force feed hopper
-#5 electro grip frame (if you want to throw that much paint)

Spyder rodeo? I hear those aren't too great. Then again, my friend (though usually correct) is very biased. I hear the rodeo is very delicate and breaks easily, though has a nice shot? What is the truth behind the rodeo?

The truth is its about the same as every other spyder, just different paint, different stock barrel then some, etc. If you look at spyders, they use alot of the same bodies, frames, triggers, bolts, barrels, expansion chambers, etc. on there guns. Such asthe Fenix and Pilot have the same Electro Trigger, and the Victor and Imagine have the same stock barrel just to name a few.

Dude, don't be confused by these people.
Every spyder is the EXACT SAME THING. No one spyder, essentially, will shoot any better than another (except if it has something special, like a powerfeed (old, not used anymore, but powerfeed>vert feed), an acs bolt, or an e-grip). They are built on the same stacked-blowback design (same springs, striker, and bolt).
Go with what you like/what your budget fits.

Xtremesnipr223 is exactly right.
It doesn't matter which gun you get, you'll most likely want to get a new barrel.
And as far as durability, the only thing that might be different in this case is the trigger frame. Is the frame on the TL-X plastic or aluminum?
I have a Victor 1 (with among other things, a J&J ceramic barrel that I spent $40 on) and I have never had problems with accuracy. Unless the TL-X has an aluminum trigger frame, it is not worth the extra money as you will probably end up replacing just about every component on the gun with aftermarket upgrades.
Just my 2 cents' worth,

Ups
-#1 hands down, un-arguably, period Aftermarket barrel
Could be well argued.
-#2 Clamping feedneck
Pff...At number 2? you need to rethink that one.
-#3 regulator or HPA
This should be number one..A decent reg will upgrade your accuracy as much as a cheap barrel..And HPA is one of the first things you should get.
-#4 force feed hopper
[COLOR=red] You're joking, right? A force fed(HALO B, Reloader B, VLocity(Isn't that what it's called) and the semi force fed, the Egg would be overkill on a mech Spyder..They're not meant for that..The single detent would be no match for it.
-#5 electro grip frame (if you want to throw that much paint)Electronics are not for throwing paint, you hippy.

No. It could not. Read any sticky on this web site. Moron.

No. We have discussed this before, search it up. I'm not typing it all over agian.

No. It will not. Agian, read any sticky on this site. Moron.
Egg would be overkill
If it keeps paintballs being fed to the gun, it is doing it's job. There is no such thing as overkill in this department. And unless you have your bolt modified to get suction, you want a force feed, not agitated.

Well, good try to Dunty, but i'll try now.
Any aftermarket bolt is not realy worth the money untill you go electro. Get the gun and the thermal mask. True, most bolt will do very little in performance enhancing on a spyder.
Ups
-#1 hands down, un-arguably, period Aftermarket barrel Well, its a good upgrade, but unless you are using the stock 7.5 inch Imagine barrel, you can live without it right off the bat. However, if you ARE using one of the shirt garbage barrels, this is a good upgrade to do soon.
-#2 Clamping feedneck Number 2? Uh, no, i would disagree with you there. It is slightly benificial but it should NOT be more important the a regulator, HPA or a good hopper...or electro grip frame even.
-#3 regulator or HPA Good upgrade, although it should be #1 or maybe #2 on the list.
-#4 force feed hopper Sure, why not, but if its on a mechanical spyder, an agitated hopper will be suffice.
-#5 electro grip frame (if you want to throw that much paint)Only if you need it, and if this comes into play, then the first upgrades after this (if you dont have them already) would be Regulator, Hopper and Barrel in no paticular order.
Please feel free to argue against my points, but don't be a jerk and call me a moron for disagreeing with you.
