Allo

I'm debating whether to get the VForce Vantage mask or the Proto EL.

The Vantage cost 30$, the Proto cost 40$ (canadianpaintball.com)

I'm debating which mask is best for me, the reviews aren't very clear whatsoever. Basicly, I want a mask that is resonably comfortable, doesn't fog like hell, and has a great view.

The vantage doesn't have many lense options, and I've heard some complaints of the Proto fogging up. The reviews are mixed, so I don't know who to trust.

So does anyone know anything about these two masks? Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Make sure the Vantage is the "Pro" version first.

The Vantage Pro is a bit better straight out of the box, but the Proto EL becomes better once you change the lens to a thermal--which is inevitable since lenses don't last forever. It's really up to you. Ask yourself if you want good now or better later.

this should go in the masks forum but anyways
i've never tried the proto but i love my vantage it has a crystal clear lense and it's rubbery so balls are likely to bounce

the proto is kinda heavy, but it is real easy to change the lens. the el only has a single lens so it will fog up. i have the fs with a clear lens and a tinted lens and i love it. either way make sure the mask you get has thermal lenses or else it wil fog

I had odered a vantage from Canadianpaintball.com but there were none in stock, so they gave me a proto El for no extra charge and upgraded something else that i had bought. I have to say I really like the mask, very comfortable and i didnt find it heavy at all. Now i havent played yet so i cannot comment on the lense.

I also use a Proto EL. Never noticed a weight problem (but then again I think people are wimpy when they complain about how heavy a 3lb marker is). No fog problems either. I have played with it in 90+ deg and 90%+ humidity, in the middle of a rain shower and on cooler (upper 60's) days with no problem. It has a decent field of view also. The only problem I have with it is the side/rear foam falls off real easy. I just clean it off and glue it back on.

proto masks are a bit heavy compared to the vforce masks but it's not a big deal

Get the Proto and upgrade the lense at a later date, or when you have the extra cash lying around. I found it better than the Vantage, but i used the FS Proto, but they are the same with a different lense basically. Oh, and Proto's will fit over glasses, or at least they fit over mine.

The vantage though is really comfortable. Hardly fogs..except when we played in the rain not too long ago

I played all day with my Proto and it only fogged once. That was later on in the day when it started to gt humid and i was crawling under LOW (1ft high) brush. It is comfertable, good field of vision, doesnt feel heavy to me, and seems to offer great protection and a small(i think) profile. It also appears to be upgradable to have a fan. Great value for $30, and even comes in green for us woodsballers:D.

dont get the proto. i got it when it came with my first gun and it fogs up so much. doesnt matter what the weather is like, it fogs up. it always gets in the way because i'll constantly be stopping and trying to clean my lense. i just ordered to vantage and its reviews are a lot better than the proto. and there is a good color selection.

Preference try it on see which you like the best, my Vantage has only fogged twice keep in mind this is with about 90% humidity AND it was foggy out anyways. Even people with thermal lenses were having trouble, the thermo-curing stuff works.

I have 2 ELs one I have as a basck up. I have played in 20* days in the snow and in 50* days after it rained and mine havent fogged yet. I do have to agree with someone earlier that the ear padding comes off a bit too easy, but glue works wonders. I'd say just go in and try both on and get the one that is the most comfy to you.

i have the vantage and it is a bit lower profile than the EL.
the lens on the Vantage is perfectly fine and doesn't fog.
the foam is really nice and is more comfortavle than the EL.
More colors, not a big deal.
the one up of ELs are the field of view, turn your freakin head to see.
Go with the vantage (Pro), better mask overall
Vantage=$30
EL=$30+$25 Thermals=$55
