I'm looking into J&J barrels for my spyder. Does anyone know if the self cleaning system works effectively?

Its more hype then anything else. Although the J&J is a great barrel for the money. All barrels will clean realatively the same when you chop/barrel break. The J&J ceramic is teflon impregnated to make it slicker then regular aluminum. Thus hopefully making it clean better/faster. It does work to some degree....but dont expect any miracles.

I know from my experience that it does get most of the paint out of the barrel so when u squeege it tons and tons of paint isn't coming out, but the accuracy is drasitcally effected. If a ball breaks in there the accuracy u can expect to get is about a 6 foot target area, and randomly one that just sucks. It's a lot better then most barrels would get, but it is mostly hype

However don't let that discourage you, its a great cheap barrel then has time and time again proved to be great for mine and many other markers. So go ahead and get one :D

I dont buy into them cleaning better than any other barrel. But still get one, they are very cheap and one of the best barrels out there.

Mine shot thru breaks in 6-7 shots everytime. Most aluminum barrels will NOT clean themselves out.

I had one for my tippmann 98c. not the best gun but by far one of the most difficult to use. it had a break so i shot a few times almost no difference. and the barrel clean the accuracy was not that good. might just be mine.

It cleans perfectly. How do I know? I dove into the snake and my barrel ended up with about half an inch of sand/muddy stuff in it. Five shots and it was shooting straight, no breaks.
Just to clarify, my field uses a hybrid mixture of sand and dirt instead of artificial grass or carpet.

I use to believe it was overhyped but it's not. Usually when you break paint, a dozen shots will clean a barrel right out. With the ceramic though it cleans out in 6 at most. I don't own one and would rather get a CP or Lapco, but trust me, the Ceramic works as advertised.
