you would think people would notice the small word in the middle of a bunch of big words. This just goes to show how stupid some people are.

Man that's a bummer. Don't you think that the seller could get in trouble for that? Or does the small word "box" make it legal? I'll definitely read closer now.

Oh, it's legal. He didn't read the description well enough, so he'll get the box.

Item must be returned within: 7 Days Refund will be given as: Money Back
so....sounds like he'll be getting his box back

he'll be getting his box back..and refunding the customer, minus $20 shipping and handling.
that is, assuming you can get in touch with him, and send the box back, within the required 7 day period.
I hope the -1 and 0 feedback bidders, are just throwaway accounts people made, to keep real bidders from buying this box.

100% legal, he told them they were bidding on a box. It's been done before, someone bought a picture of a DM4 for 1500 bucks 2 years ago.

/Edit - I'm not calling anyone out specifically here, just making a general comment about claiming legality before looking into the facts.

Legal definition of Fraud: All multifarious means which human ingenuity can devise, and which are resorted to by one individual to get an advantage over another by false suggestions or suppression of the truth. It includes all surprises, tricks, cunning or dissembling, and any unfair way which another is cheated.
Under common law, three elements are generally required to prove fraud: a material false statement made with an intent to deceive, a victim’s reliance on the statement, and damages. Were all 3 elements present in this case??? you decide.
Each state deals with fraud in a different way, all it takes is a motivated victim. The basis for trial decisions comes from both interpretation of the law and legal precedent.
Legal precedent involving eBay and other auction sites:
Oxford, Mississippi On August 27, 1998, a woman was sentenced in the Northern District of Mississippi to 15 months' imprisonment and $9,432 restitution on fraud charges relating to her conduct of a fraudulent scheme. The scheme involved her use of Web pages and interactive computer locations on the Internet for falsely advertising various computer hardware and software and computer accessories.
Philadelphia On March 2, 2000, three men were criminally charged in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania for their alleged roles in falsely offering the sale of Beanie Babies® on the Internet, and then failing to deliver the orders or sending stolen Beanie Babies® that generally were of substantially less value than the items ordered.
San Diego On March 6, 2000, a man pleaded guilty in the Southern District of California to mail and wire fraud in connection with his conduct of a fraudulent scheme involving Internet sales of Beanie Babies® that he never delivered.
Santa Ana, California On November 1, 1999, a man was sentenced in the Central District of California on mail and credit-card fraud charges to 14 months' imprisonment and $36,000 restitution, for his conduct of an Internet auction fraud that falsely offered digital cameras and laptop computers to consumers.
Seattle On August 6, 1999, a man pleaded guilty in the Western District of Washington to wire fraud in connection with his role in placing on various Web sites false advertisements for computer systems, for which he accepted victims' payments but which he never delivered.
West Palm Beach, Florida On February 12, 1999, a man was sentenced in the Southern District of Florida on wire fraud charges to six months home detention and more than $22,000 restitution, for his conduct of a fraudulent scheme in which he falsely advertised on Internet auction and retail sale Web sites computer components that he purported to have for sale, but did not have or obtain most of the merchandise he advertised.
Motivation goes a long way towards getting your money back.
The Box auction clearly violates eBay's misleading titles rules
Sellers are not permitted to create titles for their listings that do not accurately describe the item for sale.
Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:
Listing cancellation
Limits on account privileges
Account suspension
Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
Loss of PowerSeller status

Ah, so it isn't legal. I thought it would be legal because he put the accurate description in there.
Thanks for straightening me out, Dag.

not really trying to straighten anyone out, I just quoted you because your post was the first one I came across.
There's a lot of grey areas in law and fraud is definitely one of them.. just trying to make it known with the facts :D
Looks like the person who won this auction paid, which is a shame. I wish it would have been reported earlier.

Yep, I saw an '05 Ego box the other day go for $200.
Anyways, I'm about to go sell my Impulse box on eBay.
No, I'm not kidding.

So, had he not paid, he could have gotten out of buying it? And now that he's paid, there's nothing he can do?

Reading this thread got me worried that i didn't fully comprehend the description for an item i'm bidding on. I've been reading and re-reading it all day, checking out the seller and checking out his other sale items.
Damn ebay.

if i would have seen it before the auction ended I woulda reported it to ebay who would have most likely pulled the auction.
Had he won and realized what had happened he could have not paid and filed a complaint nullifying the auction.
Now that he paid, it makes getting a refund difficult. Once he/she realizes what they bid on, I'm sure they'll be requesting a refund.

Now you know how I feel when I made that joke post about the Midwest Posse. Spamming up OT to fool with a PBR club for no discernable reason is not funny. I copied that Christian post and just changed a few words. Reviving a thread is not funny. It seems like everyone here is up-tight. We need to get along because we all have something in common by playing paintball. I will post no more posts like that again. Jolly good then.
I wonder how this fiasco will end. Hopefully the guy gets his money and a better sense of comprehension.
