Ok guys, I went to play paintball this weekend...with my new pmi reg setup...(not LP yet)...
it worked fine for a while...but first thing that happened was my adjuster screw in the reg fell out (had to back it pretty far out to get under 300 fps).
That's problem one. Then later I noticed a leak coming from my bottom line. I thought it was the elbow going into the ca valve (bottomline?) where the tank screws in, but turns out it wsa the on/off valve on my tank.
So, that's problem 3. The final problem, in redoing my bottomline to find problem with leak, the rubber ring that is on the regulator blew. I turn tank on and air pours out of the reg through the black o-ring you can see from the outside.
What would cause that? How can I replace taht o-ring? what size is it? Also, I'dlike to replace the o-rings inside the reg, but they're smaller than regular o-rings...whta can I do about this? is the reg just broken?
I appreciate any help you can give me...

ok quick run down....
1. The oring you see on the outside of the reg between the halves does nothing GOOD! GET rid of it....
2. Split the reg at the chrome and center if you have a black and chrome reg that is where the blac and chrome come together.
3. pull the spring out and in the upper half of the reg (what would be the chrome piece if it were chrome and black)
now toward the top of the reg there should be a piece about the size of a nickel with a rod the size of a pencil comin out the bottom use something to push that out from the top of the reg.
4. At the very top of the reg there should be an o-ring which is probably mangled... this happens when pressure is applied to the reg and you back the screw all the way out....which is why you remove the o-ring from the outside of the reg so this doesn't happen anymore.... there are only 6 o-rings on the reg when it comes new from the factory if it is not one of the 2 above the spring then remove the c-clip from the bottom of the reg with snap ring pliars and check the two under the lower half....
enjoy

Hey, How exactly do I split the reg apart? Its easy to take the clip off teh bottom to get the lower handle part off...but that is only exposing the two lower o-rings...
so, what do I do to get the upper half apart so I can replace the 0-ring you speak of? Also, is it a standard tank type o-ring? or will I have to purchase special ones?
Thanks for all your help...been a while since I checked the forum (got distracted, work and all)...and I wanna get this fixed.
btw...any idea bout the screw? i lost it cause ti was backed out too far. Think PMI will send me another? My local shop sucks...they can't tap a gauge for me and couldn't fix the on/off valuve on my tank (they jsut replaced it with a pin valve)...so I'm not wanting to go to them for help on this (the guy there actuallysaid he has 3 or 4 pmi regs adn can't figure out how to use it, and suggestedd I take it back to where I got it).
Thanks for your help

if you look at a picture of a black and chrome pure energy reg where the black meets the chrome it unscrews *HOWEVER* The reg has reverse threads at this junction meaning tunr the top off clock wise like you were trying to tighten the chrome piece back on and it will come off if you can't get it loos find a jam nut from a gas trhu stock and use the locking nut on the asa to lock the reg in place then use both hand to unscrew the lower half of the reg... it's not that difficult....

pmi will gladly send you a new screw don't go to the hardware store looking for one you will only screw it up because lowes and home depot and true value do not carry this set screw in the proper length besides lapco makes an adaptor so you can use a gauge with you reg not mods necessary. it is simply a small collar whick screws on to your reg and then the collar screws into you asa.

lapco makes an adapter to add a gauge to this regulator?
Any chance you know where I can get one? I haven't seen anything like this on any of the sites I know of.
I got the thing apart, you were right, the top o-ring was blown to bits....now I just gotta get an assortment of o-rings to replace it. Figure I'll buy a turbovalve, bolt, o-rings, adapter and gauge and go LP soon.

well damn. I found the lapco adapter and the 32 degrees gauge so I can get a gauge w/o any drilling. Total cost $34.
However, I still need a turbo valve and delrin bolt and assorted o-ring sizes, can't seem to find them on 888paintball.com. Guess I'll need to get them somewhere else.
thanks for your help.
