I bought an RT for my 98 custom a while ago. and since i hav taken it off. lemme explain why..
It'd NEVER shoot more than 1-2 balls. EVER. i even adjusted the side screw thing...
It always half-cocked. Id fire, itd uncock a little way after fireing. id hav to pull the bolt back about 3/4 inch to cock it again.
ANYONE HAV ANY IDEAS??? im close to selling it and i really dont feel like it!

Ummm... Double trigger, maybe? Seriously, it makes all the difference.

First unload your marker. Now begin by adjusting the rate of fire by turning the flow control, or side screw thing, clockwise completely. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!!!! Then fire 2-4 shots. Your trigger should become very hard to pull. This lets you know it is installed properly. Now turn the flow adjuster counter-clockwise until your desired rate of fire is achieved.
If your trigger never bocomes hard to pull when your turn the flow control clockwise, your RT is not installed properly. You'll need to disassemble the marker and check fittings and o-rings. You most likely have a leak somewhere.
Hope this helps!!

Sounds like you needed a faster hopper. The "decocking" you're referring to sounds like you're pinching balls. I had that problem after I got my trigger job really dialed in.

Try reinstalling and dry firing in conjunction with wia's advice. You should be able to get it set up just fine.

Ok then, in addition to everything that's been said before, get a Cyclone feed if you want a faster feed rate. It is flawless for an RT'd Tippmann of any kind. And really, you will still want to seriously consider teh Tippmann double trigger. It makes a significant improvement in ROF, and also make the RT easier to use. If you fan the trigger, it makes it go even faster, helping you along with your ROF. That is the most effective way I have found to use it.

I had the same problem yesterday when I installed my QEV kit. It took like 60 ounces of CO2 to get it adjusted right... but now that I fixed it it kicks arse! I don't even need to sweet-spot it anymore! It does all the work for me!

BTW, I just read something that said you have break in your RT, which seems quite accurate, seeing as how my RT was mierda up until very recently, and in that time, I have put at least 3000 rounds through it. So it would be perfectly logical that your RT isn't up to expectations yet, assuming you haven't had it for very long. If you have had it forever, then that theory wouldn't make much sense. So my question is this: How long have you had teh RT? Or more specifically, how many rounds have you put through it since installment of teh RT? Answers to both of those question would be even more helpful.

It might be a bad seal, incorrect installation, improper tuning, RT not broken in yet, faulty RT, hopper is too slow, might need help from Double Trigger, air flow obstructions/recocking problems/friction, bad bolt/powertube/rear bolt (A.K.A. hammer)/valve seals, insufficent CO2/air pressure, or any gas leaks.
I suggest that you talk to Tippmann and consider sending to them based on what they say, as it could be something unrelated to your RT, or some combination of things.

Like I have said before, my RT'd A-5, especially post-QEV really RIPS! It is a real beast. It just takes a little patience to get it right. In fact, mine sweetspots itself so you don't have to! /joedirtref

I wish you the best of luck.
