I am new to paintball and will be purchasing my first gun within the next week and looking to play very often.
I was wondering if anyone plays while listening to their ipod or mp3 player?
or do u need to be able to hear everything?
assuming u would not want to do this during tourny when u need all senses...

Definately don't. You need to be able to hear the shots hitting the bunker and where they're coming from. And you have to comminucate with your team to play affectively.
Taking your sense of hearing away is like playing blindfolded honestly. It's going to hurt your game twenty times more because you won't be able to hear the most common things like 'back left', 'center fifty', or even the most important one of 'Out/Hit'.

You could purchase a cheaper mp3 instead of riskin an expensive Ipod, also the fact that you could have a loose wire dangling from you, it could get caught on something.

wabe babe, You don't listen to music while playing paintball, period. Whether it's coming from an ipod, a cheap mp3 player, or an 8-Track player.

If my friends and I plot out a practice field in my friend's basement, we'll have a stereo playing. If it happens, yes, video will be taken.

I only listen to my MP3 player when I'm at work cooking stuff and even then it probably isn't a good idea.

Directions:
Cook food X for 10 minutes
Wait for sizzling sound, and then turn off.

Paintball requires a lot of teamwork and communication. If you cant hear what your teammates have to say then i doubt you'll be of much use on the field.

I've talked on the phone before while playing, usually when I forget to leave it in the staging area and it rings :)

I prefer to just crank the stereo in the car, can still enjoy the tunes and hear your team mates.

Haha, fun times. The phone was ringing at like 7 am, and Sean was like "...ahhh... *yahwn*... wtf is that...".
*Chris wakes up* "It's Seamus."
"Oh."
I forgot what I said though on the phone, lol.
That kid got his Proto working in the end, right? At least I think that's what it was.
