I made a webpage to give you guys all the specifications on long barrels. Go to http://www.geocities.com/jaronervin/barrel_page.html . Jay

Could you tell me what you are disagreeing with and why? I would like to make the site as accurate as possible. Jay

ok i did a little testy last sunday... with the 12dye ss, 18inch boomstick, and 14inch J&J ceramic
i shot proball and marbs in each, all shot them about the same
what i noticed:
dye SS 12: balls seemed to be very accurate and have pretty good distance
18inch boomstick: balls did not have the distance that the 12inch dye had. I had to aim much higher to hit the same spot as the 12dye did. Even the guy with the boom tired my 12ss on his shutter and notice a hell of a pickup in distance, but no difference in acuracy.
J&J ceramic: quiet as hell!!!! light! and also pretty accurate.. shooting from the hip i couldnt nptice a difference in accuracy in any of the 3, but the longer barrel just seemed to have the least distance of the 3?? maybe its just the added friction slowing the ball down, or maybe not.. granted i didnt use a vice, but in the field the shorter barrel ,12-14inch seemed to shoot farther

riptid when you tested this did you rechrono your marker after each barrel change. I am guessing no.
Length does not affect accuracy or distance.
Just aiming points which yes can be accuracy because some people find it easier to aim down a really long barrel and therefore they will just be inhertinly more accurate.

well I don't really like any of it.
Read my article on Raven Paintball Club (hell read them all) http://www.emote.org/rpc and you will see about some things to write or add.
I have a 16" barrel on my cocker. I love it I play predominately speedball (meaning I play everyweek sometimes 6 times a month or more and like bush ball once or twice a year).

the longer barrels add drag and then to compensate you have to turn your velocity up,so now you need more pressure to operate
at the same velocity a 12" needs.
sorry bud but your article is flawed,to get the "sniper" effect your going for you need to have a super consistent set up,in a semi-
auto situation the consistency is the absolute most important
way to get good accuracy
first and formost ,unless your running dual palmer stabs and a anti-ciphon ,co2 is not consistent, swtich to hp
paint ,you must use good paint,if your paint is inconsistent, you
can have a set up that runs at +/-1 run at +/-50
paint to barrel match, with a good match, you will shoot darts,
have better efficency,it takes less gas to accelerate the ball to
the speed needed, and therefor, lower operating pressure
lower pressure marker,a low pressure high volume set up pushes the ball, instead of smacking the ball and it creates less distortion
and a flatter trajectory
none of that stuff is opinion, the opinion comes in on the length issue, and its more of a prefference thing, some people find the longer barrels easy to aim and control, and on sup air and hyper fields the longer barrels are used to fold bunkers and shoot through the couragated tubing slots, but they are not superior
in performance
