I need to now everything!
I am here to be taught whatever I need to know about paintball. The do's and don'ts, what to do when etc.
Mainly I know all the basic about the 300 fps, always wear masks etc. etc.
I need to know how often to clean/oil the interior, and how to do that properly. I have a tippmann 98c. Aldso, does anyone know where I can get a diagram of the tippmanns interior set-up etc. I do not have my gun yet.
I also want to know whether not you can make a stock class barrel more accurate by polishing it, or should I just go and buy a better after-market barrel right away?!
Also, why do you polish the interior of your gun? I don't understand the whole concept. If you should polish the interiors how do you do it?
Please help me! (tell me anything else I should know too)

Also, whats up with the whole thermal/non thermal lens thing? Whats the difference?

Well I'm not to sure about the inner workings of a tippmann specifically (I'm a Spyder man myself) but basically to oil any marker you put a few drops in the asa (the part where the Co2 tank screws in) and a few drops down the feed and onto the bolt(the part where the paintballs drop down into). To get the oil running through your gun you dryfire (shooting with gas in your gun but without shooting any paintballs) and the oil from the asa and on the bolt should get thoroughly spread through your gun's internals.
For schematics of a tippmann model 98 you might want to try checking on the tippmann web site.

Normally I'd suggest just getting a new barrel. However, stock barrels aren't really as bad as people say they are. You don't really need a new barrel, but a new one will help your performance a noticeable amount.

Polishing the internals of your gun is going on the basic principle of friction. There are parts of the internal mechanisms of your gun that touch and rub against each other when firing a shot (the sear, the bolt, etc) so there is a considerable amount of friction which slows down your gun. Parts stock from the factory are normally coarse and rough, which generates this friction, but by polishing your internals you smoothen them out, making a more even and level surface for the moving components when they strike each other. This results in less friction meaning faster and better shots. You might want to check in the tippmann forum for information about what specific parts to polish (sand down).

The benefit of thermal lenses is that they don't fog up. They are specially treated and coated with something, so that they don't? However non thermal/normal lenses do, which can impede your vision during a game. But there are sprays you can buy to use on your normal lenses to make them fog resistant like a thermal lense.
Any more questions?

Thermal lenses are usually just a lens with a sheet of plastic held slightly away from it, sealed on all sides. Think of like double pane glass. That little pocket of air changes much more slowly because it's getting head from your head side, and cool from the outside, and splits the difference. Since the difference between the pocket air and either side is minimal, neither side fogs up nearly as quickly or often. It would have to be really cold outside and you would have to be really hot for it to fog. Of course, if it's that cold outside there won't be any moisture in the air, so the only way it could fog is if you sweated like a mad man for a few minutes, which you probably wouldn't when it's cold.
