Well, in theory, polishing the inside of you 98 will make your 'gun cycle faster. I can't tell any difference between my now polished 98 and previously unpolished one. To polish the inside, it's pretty simple: simply take some course steel wool to it. It should take a while, up to an hour, but it's cool all the same. After you polish it, smooth it out with some fine steel wool and oil it up a bit. And no, I can't think of anything bad that could come out of a bad polishing job. Now that I think about it, I almost got my ReTro 'Mag polished, but decided against it, simply because 26 BPS (supposedly) seems to be enough. So I think polishing is more for a 98 than for any other 'gun...I haven't really heard of too many people polishing their Spyders or Fishy's.

:eyes: 26 bps? That's a bit much
Anyway, yes, you can mess up the gun by polishing too much. The power tube won't sit right when you put it back in and the rear bolt can keep hitting it off center, causing it to crack after a time. You can get a brillo pad and clean off the paint that's on the inner part of the shell. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it. From what I understand, it's not that big a performance enhancement anyway.

DaCuban: 26 BPS has only been tested in the AGD lab on the ReTro Valve...no one can actually get that. Oh yeah, the performance doesn't really increase...it's just something fun to do!
