hello
paintball needs to have an entire channel just dedicated to it. if someone who was already in the tv business would start taking donations and such we could get paintball on tv. there could be live paintball tourneys on tv and tourneys like the superbowl only w/ paintball. we need to start voicing our desire for a 24 hour paintball network. we should make a web-site find someone already in the biz get donations and make it happen. it would boost paintball's popularity and make millions more in the industry. i hope someone will pick up on this and stert things up. it wouldnt be that hard w/ all the people that would make donations or help out.
i hope this will happen sometime and soon.
p.s are there already plans for p-ball on tv?
thanks

Wow man...that...was...ah...haha...great.
I can tell you with utter certainty that there will not be a 24/7 paintball channel anytime soon no matter what we do.
You may see a short paintball special on at somepoint but 24/7...no sport has that...why would paintball?

I'd hate to say it, but I agree with MindOfSin because there are many people that are ignorant and they think paintball is dangerous and promotes violence.:( :pissed:

Paintball isn't TV friendly. Too many players, angles, balls flying. Durty Dan has some good ideas on how to make TV more TV friendly.
www.durtydan.com I think

soccer is also the most popular sport in the world...with 100s of pro leagues and watched by billions of people worldwide

Don't any of you get the Golf Channel? Thats a 24/7 sport-only channel.....
I'm afraid to say that Paintball isn't even remotely close in popularity to golf....and when you throw in the fact that non-paintballers won't have a clue whats going on during the game.....I wouldn't feel so optimisitic about the channels ratings...

I get the golf channel... most boring show ever not dissing golf but you could fall asleep (trust me) and its on BASIC CABLE I mean Id be happy if paintball was just like some 999 channel on a satillite dish.

Personally I wouldn't trust team Rage or other similar pro teams to represent MY sport on national TV. Just what people need to see, someone throwing their gun down, cursing and getting in shouting matches with the ref. Let's fix the "pro image" problem first and THEN worry about TV.

some people thing that paintball is too fast paced for tv. Its not like skating, or wakeboarding or something like that where the attension is focused on one person. Then again, its not like football or basket ball where you are focusing on the ball. In my opinion, i think paintball would be cool on tv.

I had a local station here in Utah ready to go for a show. 1 hour a week. Saturdays. But still... it was going to be Paintball and it was going to be local. I had everything arranged and it was beautiful. The project was GO... that is, until some JACKHOLES in Salt Lake did a paintball drive by on the PRODUCER'S KID.
INSTANT DEATH for the paintball show. It stopped right there... that day. I came home from work to an angry message on my machine. He never returned my calls or emails after that. :pissed:

I also agree that paintball is fine the way it is. Quite frankly I DON'T want the majority of the little redneck punks at my school coming to the field. I like being able to trust all of the people in our paintball community. I don't want to have to worry about cheaters and thieves everytime I play. And there aren't enough big paintball events to have a channel dedicated to them anyway.

i don't know why people think paintball is so violent because people have been hit by drive-by paintballers. i think it's a really stupid thing to do, but people get hit by baseball bats and get hurt a lot more, they don't outlaw baseball bats.
and also people don't like it because sometimes paintballs are used in vandalism. they can be washed off with water, toilet paper, eggs and keys can do a lot more "damage" to property than a paintball.
i also like paintball being a bit underground, but it's rapidly growing, right now most fields are over populated and the local shop always have a line out the door.
if the sport was televised (i have lots of ideas to make it user friendly aswell), maybe more fields would be built so you'd be dealing w/ LESS newbies (depending on the fields you play at) and there would be more stores so I wouldn't have to wait 45 minutes to get a tank cover.
how will people get the right impression of paintball if they never see it? the average person thinks paintball is a stalking woods game, when i tell people i'm bussy because i've got a tournament or i have practice they give me a funny look and say "i didn't even know there were special places to play at".
people frown on paintball because they think the only thing to do w/ the "guns" is to shoot houses and stop signs or do target practice on their cat.
but the real reason i want paintball on TV isn't to spread the sport, it's purely selfish, i've watched all the painmtball videos i've got on my cpu 100 times and all the good videos 50. i want fresh paintball to watch on an annual/ monthly/weekly or daily basis.

One way you could make paintball on TV interesting is to film a scenario game. Follow one sqaud of better-than-average players and see what happens. The viewers would see huge attack plans unfold and people taking objectives etc. Actualy, you would probably want to film like 10 different sqauds (different teams) and switch around at relevant times. You could also interview the generals and other major players.

The baseball bat thing is VERY true. I would've never thought of that. So many people use baseball bats to vandalize, injure, and even kill people. But still nothin has really been put for safety measures.

I really don't think paintball should go too mainstream. If it did we would have a bunch of rich yuppies comin out and turn it into a poser sport. By the way there is a web tv show at www.pigtv.net .You have to have kinda of a fast conection tho.

Ok, heres an alternate view. 24/7 paintball, can you imagine how boaring thta would get? I LOVE PAINTBALL, I eat, sleep, read, breath pb, but I LOVE TO PLAY MORE THAN ANYTHING. Golf, baseball...football sometimes is boring to watch, fun to play.
I think maybe a couple hours a week would absolutly rock. Man that thing about yuppies is true as well, anyone fly fish? God a while back that became the "in" thing to do for yuppies in the silicone valley and they screwed up all my fishing spots.

look at the pbreview news, its gunna be on fox sports network in april:) theres gunna be 3 introductory episodes to test the water, and if it gets nice ratings it will stay
"what jacks! paople like that are the people who make other people think it promotes violence!"
you know, i agree with you on the fact that paintball does not promote violence.
but it isnt exactly only people like that, that make people think paintball promotes violence, give some of the pro team the credit for that. im not about to go on an "all pros are slobs" rant, because there arent, but a few have tempers that we dont need. a guy i know once said "theres just something about two teams of grown men swinging their guns at eachother by the barrel that makes you laugh" and yes it happend, they started beating eachuther with their guns. A man at his team's practice(i GARANTE you heard of the team but i wont metion it) were the vetern player went to bunker a 17year old kid, when the ref(who i heard the stroy from) called it a 'simo' the player became irate and shot the player he bunkerd about 6 times point blank in the chest.
thats all im gunna say.
