Well, first you will need a goggle system, then a loader, and last a C02 tank, don't start with nitro. Sorry I don't know the answer to the 2nd question.
the other one

yeah, goggles are number one. if you can't see, you're dead. (get thermal lenses) get one with lots of protection, cause it REALLY HURTS if you get hit in the neck. and to the question of price.......... think about it. the paintball sites get then guns right from the manufacturer, as the little store gets them from a middle man (such as the internet sites) and in order to gain a profit from the price they get it at, they jack the price up.
PS: xpaintball is supposed to have really low prices, but i've heard bad stories about them. good luck

The JT X-fires have a ton of protection. They are also bulky but fairly cheap.
The Spectra seems to be a good choice. They have moderate protection and are very comfortable.

It looks like spectra covers more of the head then the X-fire...
I love my Spectra Thermals. I believe you can get them for a little under $35 - $40 or something.
The only negative is that the lens can be difficult to remove - but only the first time.
Also, I would suggest wearing a gator or something on your neck - make sure it's quite maneuverable, etc., and only to provide some extra padding in case you're struck in the throat, etc.

Also, there is no reason to not get thermals. They are the best piece of paintball equipment that you will ever own and will last a long time. I've had my Spectra Thermals for like 5 years, and they are still comfortable and in good condition, and have never fogged on me. If you can't afford the $38 black or olive, you can always get the blue or pink ones. They are $25 (Yes twenty-five for spectra thermals!) at pbgear. One of my friends has the blue one, and it looks much better than it does in the pic. I still like the black or olive, but hey, thirteen dollars is thirteen dollars.
EDIT - Other than the goggles, the only other thing I would change is a screw type elbow. They last much longer and are so much easier to deal with. It's not as important, and the regular elbow works just fine, it's just hard to get on and off sometimes, and over time may start slipping. Plus it's only like two bucks more.
I would suggest the following items. You simply cant get more bang for the buck...
JT enforcer thermal about
black dragun marker
12v revo
16 oz tank
xtreme 4 tube pack
4 tubes
The blk dragum marker has an electronic trigger frame... and that little marker can shoot! Its basically a spyder.... like the flash..
but a bit cheaper in price. Read up about it in the review section.

I personally like the Spyder better, but get whatever you want. I would recommend however that you try out a marker before you get it if you can. Go to your local field on a day where there should be a lot of people, and just ask some of them to try out their markers. Most will be more than happy to let you. (unless there has been a recent rash of thefts....:| )

yeah, dont make the same mistake my idiot friend made, he got the crappy 32* goggles and is mad now.
get some nice JT thermals, the spectra is a good system
as for the shutter, i would really aim you to get a pirhana, but if you are set on the shutter it should be ok too.
as for the chromoly tank, just get an aluminum one like a PMI tank. its more normal. and to the guy who said dont get n2 first, i dont see why not. its cleaner and a lot easier to use (know how much air you have, dont have to remove your tank at all), if you can afford it go ahead and get a 48/3k aluminum tank like a PMI and just never unscrew it becasue you really dont need to. it should keep everything running better.
which elbow you get get one with thumb screws, it makes everything much easier.

Whats more important...A nitro tank or 12v revy? I can get a 12v with co2, or a nitro with reg revy...Which do i need more?
BlackMageHell
02-04-2002, 06:39 PM
with a blowback c02 works fine, its better off starting with the revy
davkad
02-04-2002, 06:41 PM
i'd start out with co2 and the revvy.
as mage stated :)
but i dont think that it's true that nitro is wasted on a blow back, but i would get a motorized hopper first, to combat your fire rate.

Personally I'd go with the Shutter, but that's just me. If you really want to know why:

I've had no prblems with mine and I think it's a much better looking gun than a Fishy IMO.
