View Full Version : Sidearm purpose?

Hey, I think the pt extreme is really cool and would get one if I had a bunch of money, but other than that cant think of why I would want a sidearm. In fact, I cant even think of any purpose they serve besides being cool.

I mean, as a backup I think its a joke. 10 extra paintballs? I could just carry an extra pod and get 20 times as many. In case I run out of co2? Its only 10 shots, and why not just carry a backup tank to the field (6 oz on your back)? Plus I assume the range and accuracy are no where near as good as my gun. Someone tell me the purpose!!!

intimidation.

Not bad, but for 150 dollars? A little steep for intimidation, for 150 a 14 inch dye titanium boomstick is even more intimidation, and it actually makes your gun better.

only "real" reason is to help save yer sorry *** in case you run out of paint, ar or if it jams.

Mind you i play indoors so that s pretty worthless, what with the 5 minute games.

o well some people are rich.

But at my field one guy came in with 3 pt xtremes, jesus scared the crap outta me, and he was good too. Then he accidently brushed his quickchange too hard and his 12 gram shot off. too bad:)

I play indoors and outdoors but usually dont run out of paint, and i dont even carry pods onto the field usually. Dammit somebody come up with a good reason please!!!

well...i'm not defending the sidearm or anything, simply because i've never used it...sometimes it's not always a case of running out of air or paint, sometimes your gun just won't work for you for whatever reason. For an example...when a cocker goes down during a game, what are you gonna do? Not like you can always just run a squeegee through it and you're good to go. And sometimes one shot can make all the difference!!!

However, i still wouldn't spend all that money on one!!! I would rather spend it on nitro or something (or save it for my black magic =) ). I wouldn't want to spend over 100 on something that i would only use like twice a year. But that's just my opinion. But i must admit...it would sure be cool to bust it out doing some matrix style stuff =) (would probably get shot up good though)

If your gun is jammed there is no way in he!! your gonna get it unjammed quick enough. Its for all those little times when you need those extra couple of shots to get cover fire for your self to retreat or kill the guy whose been shooting at you. Or lets say your enemy runs out of ammo and you do too at the same time? Which one of you is going to be able to shoot again sooner? The guy who just wipped out a sidearm or a guy who is loading the paint into his hopper? The guy with a sidearm will win that scenario...Or you could use both guns at the same time and go matrix style into battle hehe;). There are so many scenarios where it can be used thats it too many to write. A sidearm is a backup and it is for all of those times when you can say to yourself, "man I wish I had a sidearm right now". It is definitly not for speedball because those games are WAY to short. But it can be a very nice accessory when in the woods.

hey jjext, i was just wondering. How did you put that 2-way radio thingy into your mask. I always wanted to do that =) I thought it would be a cool idea...even though most tourneys won't allow it. I was thinking of having that with the rest of my team.

I have a radioshack PTT mic and earpiece in there($20)... I just put the earpiece in my ear and the micro phone is in fron't of my mouth attached to the mask with some black rubber bands...And when I want to talk I just hit the button and talk. It is really simple, no biggie. I have a cobra 14 channel radio (with 38 subcodes)that it connects to also($50). It has come in handy quite a few times...Its more for a silent/stealthy kind of battle. So you don't have to yell at your team mates and give away your position. What I do when I play I have two people on a team with radios (6man team) so for example if we are playing capture the flag then one man(with 2 other team mates) with a radio can stay behind and defend and one man(with 2 other team mates) with a radio can go out and capture the enemy flag. That way if the opposing team pulls something sneaky, the team can call back a retreat to defend the flag quickly or pull an ambush on the enemy. But if you have everyone on your team with a radio it gets out of control. Then you may have 3 people trying to talk at once and you can't hear anyone clearly. But if you want to try its up to you.

2 PT's would KICK ***!!!!!!!!!

but for the reason as to why u would NEED one.................
in case u have a ball break so that u can cover yourself until u get into a good position to fix it (also for if u have any problem with your gun)

but TWO of them and if u were good with them that would kick ***!!!

Besides a backup, a pistol can always serve as covering fire. But that is only if you have a pump.

i have a pistol, and it comes in handy when ur gun eats a ball or bugs out on u. and i have a remote w/nitro, so when that babys done, its always great to know i can take it off and keep playing. if u play speedball its useless, but in huge wooden areas its a great addition for some1 who has some money to spend(i.e. me)
