Hm what kind of paintball do like(woods or speed ball), have you shot a A-5, and how interested are you in paintball, like how much do you want to spend.

As for starters, the A-5 will last 10X longer than the spyder and probally never break. They never need a new hopper and have very few problems. You can max them out with a Egrip and was at 17ish and there are alot of avalaible upgrades.

Get it, even if you play some speedball. If you spend the majority of the time playing speedball, I would reccomend something else. Remember,
A-5=Best woodsball gun

A-5 is a great gun as long as long as you dont play speedball esclusively :)

There are only two guns I would recommend for you. Fortunately, I own both of them (in sig.). To be honest with you, I like both of them equally well. My ONLY real "complaint" with the A-5 is that it is a sear-tripping blow-back. The Ion is cheaper initially, but you shouldn't ever have a problem with an A-5 (I haven't yet in 1.5 years). The Ion on the other hand requires careful operation. If careful isn't a word that describes you, the A-5 is the better choice.

BTW, an e-gripped A-5 costs about $290 new. You could buy a used one for a lot less though, and Tippys are so tough that it will probably work like new.

I have owned my Tippmann A-5 for a couple of months now and I am completely satisfied. Read my review! Don't get me wrong, it ain't perfect but it's god awful close! Except for that blasted barrel! If it wasn't for that barrel I'd probably have no breaks! Upgrade the barrel if you get one. But be warned it likes gas alot....
Nothing horrible but don't expect ghandi out of this thing atleast when it comes to gas. All in all it can throw paint with the best of em.

A5 ftw. With the egrip and a Jcs trigger, youll be dominating the woods or speedball field.

Just because I don't really like the cyclone feed I would say go w/ a 98C Pro E w/ WAS then just add a halo b and you should be set for just about any kind of play. This set up would be easy to use, maintain, and upgrade. It's Tippmann so it would be tough as hell which is great for woods and the WAS E trigger would give you enough bps and ease of pull for speed ball.:D

the 98 and a-5 are both asowme woods ball markers and have potiental for speed ball, but the thing that pushed me to the a-5 was that it look cooler.

that last review on it is pretty good, My Dad is a mech engineer too,
and a little bit of that engineerness has rubbed off on me, and I must say the A-5 is a great PB marker, (I use the tippman stealth A-5)

Looking to get any upgrades soon? Next should be a barrel, then you decide on the rest. But right now, go out and play with that baby!

Hey guys i was wondering what is a better choice, i play more woodsball but also a bit of speed, i own a P.O.S. silver bullet but was impressed but the a-5, i was leaning towards the spyder pilot acs because it was not to expensive and the reviews were pretty good. I really do not care about how fast i shoot, i'm more into accuracy and distance, so if you guys have any input that would help, Thnx

go with the A-5 i've had mine for jus about year and a hlaf and i love it, one big thing you would need to do is upgrade the barrel im not goin to say what you should get because its all preferance i like th flatline but im not gonna say its the best cuz its not but its better then the stock one. so the tippys are durable and reliable ive played both woods and speed ball with it and its performed well so i say go with the A-5
