I am very mad at Smart Parts, all I have had is problems with my gun. When I shoot paint, any kind, it uses so much air!!! When i shot 150 balls, my 68/3000 air tank went all the way down to 1000, I had just filled it up too. What is wrong. I can here the bolt stick sometimes too. It chops paint like crazy. I clean it a lot, and always dow 33 the bolt and hammer. What is wrong?????

First of all, you have to correctly set your dwell. After you do that, you should be getting much better air efficiency. If you want to get rid of the bolt stick, you are going to need some kind of mod (i.e. VFF, tapeworm, etc.). If you are chopping, u could be outshooting your hopper, you could try turning ur ROF down.

I'm sorry to tell you atmomic, but it probably isn't the gun. It might be the way you've set it (watch those screws your turning)

Also NEVER put lube on the hammer, The hammer Ram rod and the hammer cylinder yes, but not the Hammer itself

why not?? Sounds Like I need to inspect my hammer, to see If I did or not!!

The hammer does not ride on the inside of the impulse, therefore it doesnt need lube, when the hammer stikes the valve lube will stick to it causing many different problems

Set your pressure to 180 psi, then use the dwell pot (screw adjuster thingy) to adjust your velocity. This will improve your efficiency and prevent bolt stick and chopping.

The hammer is the part of the hammer assembly that actually hits the valve, behind it is the hammer rod or ram that goes into the hammer cylinder

From the instruction manual:

To lubricate the hammer (sa2), first remove the bolt location pin (414) and bolt (sa1).
Then using a 7/8” AF wrench, remove the hammer assembly (sa2) located in the rear of the
gun below the bolt. With the hammer assembly removed, wipe off all old grease and replace
with a generous coating to the o-rings and the hammer piston. Do not apply grease to the
hammer itself! Work grease into the air passages of the hammer housing and cycle hammer
back and forth to distribute the grease. After this is done replace the hammer and hammer
housing followed by the bolt and bolt location pin.

Here is a case of when wiping is a good thing, Not only should you wipe off old dow when cleaning from your hammer assembly, BUT and BEFORE re-lubing make sure you've cleaned the inside (where the hammer goes)as well. I remove the valve and hammer and run a clean soft cloth thru that entire chamber prior to re-assembling the freshly cleaned and lubed parts.

You can download a copy of the Manual from the Impulse FAQ.

if the bolt stick is occuring while you have a ball in the chamber and you are inconsisitent, thats definately the dwell.

yeah, I know I can download the manual, and I did for a speech im making at our school in about a month( know any good tech articles (not upgrade reviews)) I am just too lazy to make myself a copy. I had one with my older Impy (nmow ive got 2881, I had 4335, you know any way to change my username to Impy2881? Youre a mod, can you do things like that??) and Ive got most of it in my head, Im smarter than I look. (and sound, etc.)
