Ballers...

I just read a post in another thread where some kid boasted about never using a barrel plug. I guess he doesn't think much of our safety.

I just spent 30 bucks on 2 Benchmark twist lock barrel plugs. Why? Because I will NEVER be responsible for another players injury. Goggles are for my safety. I spare no expense on them. Plugs are for everybodys safety. Again, I spare no expense.

I want you guys around. I want to play with you. I want to play against you. I want to make you guys better at the game. I want you to make me better. That will never happen if someone gets hurt. I will never be the player responsible for someone elses eye injury. I hope to God you won't either.

Agreement definitely here man, I'm about to buy a new gun and I'm investing in a barrel condom for sure, Although I have never heard of that twist on thingamabobber, where can I get them? Safety always comes first. After all, without a mask, just a hit to the cheekbone by an ignorant ***** in the staging area can cost somebody their eye, not to mention a direct hit...

How come you got 2? (I guess maybe to lone to a friend or something) Anyways I read somewhere that barrel plugs aren't even considered safe anymore and at tournaments they make you use a barrel bag if you want to perticipate.

Last wednesday, at the field I play at now, in the staging area, a player had his barrel plug in and his safety on. However, otherwise, his gun was all ready.

The gun fired a bunch of times - it was fortunate he had a barrel plug in, and a good one, because it was lying on a table, facing people (my little brother, in fact).

So, whether the safety is on or not, the gun can still malfunction.

Please use a barrel plug, and follow other safety precautions.

wow...

way to show your maturity.

i think that barrel plugs are great, even though they are not the most effective. i think that barrel condoms should become the new standard. they are great designed, can take multiple shots (without falling out or loosening their grip) ... and make everyone around feel safe.

when every you go out.

make sure, if you are not playing a game, have your plug or condom on.

I have to agree with Coyote. I've driven ~500 miles one way to play at one specific field (the entire reason for the trip was to play the field). Went in in the morning (rented hotel room(s)), picked up 3 cases of paint right at opening (there were 4 of us who made the trip to play there, planned on playing all day). Started unpacking the gear. Few other players showed up, were disregaurding safety (no barrel plugs/condoms, walking out to fireing range without masks, etc). Pointed this out to the staff, their reply was to shrug. We packed up and left at that point (was sorta hoping that someone would shoot my car as I was driving away. Hadn't signed the release forms yet, so I could have sued both the player and the field. :) ).

Q-Why 2 plugs?
A- I have 4 different markers and my fiance plays too.

I didn't identify or insult you. I called you a kid because you are, I'm twice your age. I have never seen anyone hurt at a paintball field because we police our own. It isn't hard to plug your barrel. It is hard to repair an eye. You bring your bad attitude to my home field you will get 1 warning. Then you will get run. I have a Flash like you do, and I have the trigger set super light. It has gone off 3 times when I had no intention of shooting it. All 3 times it was plugged. It comes with a plug. Use it. Notice that I am one of the people answering all those Spyder and Phantom questions you have. I treat you pretty good don't I? I would expect that you would treat me with the same courtesy.

Yep, because of the method of operation on my intimidator, it is impossible for the marker to fire without the gun turned on (that solenoid valve isn't gonna switch direction on it's own), and yet I still always use a plug and even a plugged gun should never be pointed at anyone's face even if the marker is off, or the safety is on. It's something I've always done, and it's something I expect from anyone I'm playing with as well.
