Hey, whats goin on. I recently purchased a flatline for my a5. The guy at the pro shop installed it and everythin. When I went to the field this saturday I wasn't getting the distance I was expecting. My friend has a 98 with a SP linear. Fired about the same distance as my flatline. Does anyone know what the problem is? I was running Co2 on a cold day with premium balls. My velocity kept jumping around 235-250. Couldn't really get it stable. Wondering if that was the problem. Maybe HPA will help? Anyways, any help will be greatly appreciated.

I dont really know, the only thing i can guess is maybe u were too low on co2 but i figure u would have checked that, and if thats not it, then it might just be defective or sumthing. Sounds odd, it also may have been caused by it being cold, maybe try using it on a warmer day.... i dont know man?

Your distance problem is the 235-250 fps. Balls sometimes don't even break below 260. If you can get your marker shooting 265-280 you'll notice the difference. My A-5 w/ flatline performs the best at 273 fps, like a laser beam.

your velocity or co2 could have been low, his velocity could have been high, it could have been a paint to barrel match, or it could have been your imagination.

Maybe you might have a defective flatline? Check the sand blasting. I would think that the Flatline would still give some backspin and distance at that velocity, but thats all I can think of. Do you observe any flat trajectory at all?

That would more be a question of how old the flatline is, if it is second hand this might be an issue, or even less likely tippmann did not sand blast it correctly.

That is exactly your problem, adjust the velocity up on ur A-5, and get it to match ur friends. If u have a chrono, try and adjust the velocity until u get 275 fps. 235 fps will not shoot far at all, with whatever barrel u have.

do not exceed 280 fps with a flatline or you will get the H effect.

It sound more like a problem with your gas scorce. If you want to stick with CO2, anti-siphon your tank (five bucks). This should solve most of your problems in most weather.

If your field does cheap all-day-air. You would be best off looking into a good size HPA tank.

why bother with the flatline so it can shoot far but not accurate invest in a barrel system

With the right paint and set up correctly it is as accurate as the person who holds it.

Helicopter effect, means there is to much backspin and the paintball fly up and goes 1000 feet and comes down in some unknown area.

Because when you are pinned down behind some brush with a player at the top of the ridge throwing paint at you, hollaring you cant hit me, but I can hit you. And he was right. My supposidly more accurate barrel kit, does me little good, if I cant get in it's range because the Flat Line shooter wont let me move. In a traditional fight with straight bore barrels, we would both be in each others range, and I would be able to attemt to fight it out with him.

With proper paint, proper set up of the FL, shooting at the correct velocity, and proper cleaning of your Flat Line it is accurate. Weather and air source can help or hurt as well.

It has been said 3 times, I STRESS, the only problem you have is you feet per second. 265-280 fps will fix your problem. THAT IS THE ONLY THING YOU NEED TO WORRY ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!
