I was using an eclipse frm for my imp, and I was wondering what the part in the picture was, and if I'd be able to replace it with a blanking plug.

That is the PRV or Pressure Relief Valve. That is what vents the excess pressure (over 230ish) to protect the solenoid in the event that you have your operating pressure too high.
If you do not have one, I would suggest you get one. Here is a link to some information in the FAQ #21 Do I need to have the PRV on my Impulse? (http://www.kamworld.net/paintball/ImpulseFAQ_Technical.html#T21)

Darn, means I'll have to leave it in there.
Just as a general gripe, the eclipse frm could have had a port for a gauge. or that pressure relief valve, or both even
