No need for the remote. I run mine with a drop but that is just me I like the feel of it. I personally do not like the feel of a remote. So be fore you buy anything I would just try it like tippyjack said just screw it in and play. It might be fine for you.

I got it on a a5 (close enough) and have run it off the marker. I am a bigger guy and don't but I am goign to be addign a strap to my vest so I can use it remote as well. So hey. But trust me it was the best thing I did, goig to a HPA tank. It make a big diffrence, and hey sure its heaver but its also a LOt more durrable then a fiber wrap. And I am a rough player in the woods. Hell I just mended my jacket which I tore a hole in the first time I used it (tiger stripe jacket).

dont u need an expansion chamber for the hpa?
GT_Hawk
02-28-2006, 11:55 AM
HPA doesnot have to convert form liquid to gas like c02. a expansion gives the co2 time to expand, but HPA is always in a gas state. So no u can plug a HPA tank directaly into your marker and it well work. HPA tanks do have a regulator built into them to bring down the pressure butr thats it. You can add a secondary regulator to help adjust pressures and such but is not neadedd. just screw the 72/3000 into your marker and you are set.

GT_Hawk,
Would you recommend removing an EP if only running HPA?
As you said, I don't believe there's any benefit to an EP w/HPA...
Alloy tank, estimated to weight about 4lbs = workout for sure :D
In case someone's interested, I picked it up from orderpaintball.com for $62
Thanks for the replies

If you mean expansion chamber, yeah, an expansion chamber is pointless on a marker running HPA. IMO, unless ur particularly attached to it, ditch the Xchamber.

expansion chamber is what I meant :P

72/3000 is a lot of weight to throw off you balence of you 98. I think you should go remote. I use a 50/3000 and a day running in the woods was horrid. you'll appreciate it in the long run.

How many shots do you get on average from a 72/3000 on a tippy?
younggun119
03-01-2006, 07:21 AM
depends, i get an average of about 600-800, the most is about 1000 shots. And i dislike the remote. Mainly, IMO, is it limits your movement with the gun.

no remote would be preferred, but all day woodsball with this baby?
I guess I'll find out :D

Ok on 2000 PSI in the tan I can get dead on 500 shots (with a few dry fires) in my tippmann a5. At 3000 PSI I an't got a clue as my field has never been able to get 3000 PSI, but give ya a idea.

Heres a few pics of one on my A-5. It is quite large and heavy, but that doesn't bug me. I can see how it would be a pain for somone smaller to heft it for a while though. Moves the center of mass to close to the end of the ASA. I might get a dropforward later, but we'll see.

Ok well I can tell you with a tank like that you almost nead a drop. I have tryed it with and without the drop, and it makes a huge diffrence. But it well b almost identical on a a5 or a 98.

Guess I'll get the shocktech drop (since I have no great desire for an On/Off).

just got an email...remote is back-ordered :(
Does anyone have a High Pressure (non-braided) Remote preference? ACI ?

I have a BT4 assualt which has all the same internals as the 98c, and i run my 72/3000 on it, with a mega rt. I got a remote because of its sheer weight, and the fact that i have a stock anyway. Its a large, heavy, big tank, best on your back to minimize target area. Coiled remotes last longer than stait up braided steel lines, and are more flexible.

thought I would post a pic w/tank...remote, mini drop and new ASA should arrive next week.

Put in some serious playing time with mine today... Love it...
I went from CO2 and the stock barrel to HPA and a J&J Ceramic barrel... the difference is night and day.
Well worth the weight.

they still make 3000 psi tanks :P
i would wait until you could get a fiberwrapped... the number of shots to weight ratio is simply not worth it. just make sure you can get all day air at your field.

no ep is always better than sear tripping
and with some exeptions hpa is alwayss better than co2 esecialy with ep
most high end gunns are ep and will not run verry well on co2

hehe... when my gun was at its prime, it weighed 16 lbs and 3 ounces. now thats a workout :p

I hadn't thought about high-end markers w/EPs...but don't they also run regulators?
The EP adds additional volume under pressure, right?
Would that help pressure at valve more consistent?
Due to weather forecast, local field was closed this weekend = tank remains empty :(
I will have a planB for next weekend...

Hmm, i used to run a 90/4500 by remote on my 98.
I bascially run a 45/4500 on my current 98.
I find it better to run a remote, cuz the 98 is too long of a design...

It was more comfortable w/a remote, but the tank wasn't that bad directly attached.
The few inches gained from the rail helped...
I did like being able to utilize a single sling attachment off the back of my custom (w/o the tank).
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e287/mr_manny/Sling.jpg
I had a leak or something, because my tank was completely empty after only one game w/remote.
It probably just needs some teflon tape at the ASA...

personally i love remotes, the gun isnt as bulky not heavy
