I don't know about anyone else but being a PB'er and a parent I was a little surprised by the cover this month. Now don't get me wrong I love the cover but I would not display it in my store. I am trying to get my store and field up and running and I dont think this cover is going to win over any of the mom's dropping their kid's off at my field. Also the article was very offensive with the comment that WNBA players are all 6' 5" and ***. This article will only bring negitive reactions to our sport I don't think that is something we need at this point. I am not trying to boycott splat mag but would like to see the magazine apologize to the women of the WNBA and all women in general. The new players to paintball are the 10 to 17 yo age range and since they need a signed waiver everytime we are going to have alot of moms around who maybe offended by this type of cover and article. Maybe I am overreacting but I would like to know if their is anyone else out there that feels the same way.

Splat is one of my least favorite magazines. Not enough material, and the articles aren't very good. They try and make up for the lack of quality by putting girls in bikinis on every page. I don't think thats the right way to run a paintball magazine.

you know what they say, sex sells, i never buy that mag, guess not avilable in my area but from the look of their page they do go overboard with the girls, it reminds me of Import Tuner or Turbo mag. rather than baintball,
for thse who actually play paintball if should be funny to see so much half naked girls concidering that they have no place on the field dressed like that, and definatelly wouldn't be so close to a player who just walked off the field splattered with paint from other players, ground, bunkers ect.... :P
don't see how it could have a negative feedback on kid tho... parents always jump the gun on too much sexuality in the media not realizing that those skimpyly dressed girls in the mags will give a wet dream to a teenage boy at most and maybe make a girl ( and how many girls actually play pb? trying to convince my gf(now wife) to play for past 2 years) visit victorias secret which she should anyways( if she doesn't wight 200lb+), they are just inanimate still pics, and no real sex is shown, its like the stiffi ad whith a guy between 2 hot girlls holding a marker with the carbon fiber barrel and big letters say "do you have a stiffi yet?" , personally i didn't and still don't...
content of the mag is important, used to like Paintball Magazine because despite their weak graphics and only bi-monthly issue, they covered low-end and high-end markers and were oriented towards the east coast, too bad they stopped printing.

Which one?
The April/March cover with Seanette?
I was talking with Mike and Chris (from SPLAT) and they were telling me that even they looked at that issue and said "Whoa, theres allot of girls in this issue."
But honestly that cover isnt that bad, its just Seanette in a somewhat low cut top, theres been worse out there. Besides at expo we were talking about it and Seanette was happy with the cover and from all the people trying to get her to sign things it seemed that there werent to many complaints...And FYI, if you ever stop in at a tournament or expo you will see much much more offensive clothing on many of the spokesmodels and players, hell if you hit up Aruba or HB this year your going to see Seanette and most of the other players with less clothing on then on that cover.
And besides who could ever hate El' Pinoto?
(Inside joke refering to the name she gave her tattoo of Mr. Peanut on her leg)

Yeah, that's pushing it. Just another reason why I will never buy a Splat. I wouldn't display it or even sell them either.

With paintball magazines, you are going to have to compromise. Few magazines are out there that do not have sex appeal.
One example is Facefull. Everyone once in a while, they have a cover of a girl that is "cold". I can't remember if they do this anymore, but they used to have a pin-up page with a model. You will have to learn that even though Facefull contains those, Facefull is the best magazine out there packed with info on guns, events, tips for players, and local events.
I bought one Splat magazine, read through it once, and threw it away. With Facefull and PB2X, I re-read each of the magazines until a newer edition comes out.
what ever happened to 3a?
Their products were crap and people realized that. Not to mention being banned from PBR, PBN(?), and having multiple suspended accounts on eBay didn't make things better for them.

No they introduced poor quality products and came to this site and reviewed them (their staff).
I got a barrel kit from them, and it worked okay, but when it first came the porting hadnt been punched out all the way and i had to do it with a press.
*edit* darn spyder got it while i was posting*

Guys I am only going to say this once.
If you have an opinion one way or another about how she looks, keep it to yourself.
You may have noticed by now that many Female ballers don't post on forums, take a guess why.
I will say this much, some (very few of us) know Seanette and other people who appear in Splat and other magazines on a personal level. When one person says "She's hot" we tend to ignore it as long as you are not disrespectful, but when you start disrespecting then we will jump into that battle. For example this last weekend I was working with Clare Benavides at paintball expo when a kid about 13-14 made a very disrespectful comment that despite Clare's best to shrug it off really offended her and was quite hurtful, and being the good friend/angry person that I am I took a break and grabbed the kid and pulled him off to the sides and "educated" him on why proper respect and manners are good to use.
I know that SPLAT magazine is not the best Paintball mag out there but I work closely with Mike and Chris and everyone over at the Splat Mansion and despite what you may think, many many MANY hours go into making their magazine. I know at this day in age in the sport respect is something that rarely ever is present but guys, honestly show a tiny bit.
You won't see Seanette hopping on the forums and trying to argue with you about the photos for two very good reasons.
First the twelve pages in SPLAT featuring an interview with her about where she is at as a player were questions SHE submitted and all the photos were ones SHE was comfortable with.
And second, she knows that it isnt worth trying to argue with people on forums and trying to fight every battle that comes up, she knows that her friends and people close to her will step up and defend her.
Respect is rare in the sport today, it was there years ago, but now its gone. Guys have a bit of respect and help the sport move forward a bit.

Thanks STHM,
You will learn that the paintball community is rather tight nit and despite what you may hear everyone is protective of everyone else. I encourage you and everyone else to come to an expo or tournament set up and see the behind the scenes. Come walk with me or anyone else, its a thing that is very hard to explain as you are able to travel perhaps five feet and in that space you run into twenty people you havent seen in a long time and you stand and chat even though your under a time frame deadline. The people you know aren't compeditiors at other companies, or rivals that you play, they are part of your family.
At teardown at expos and events vendors and players help each other, when Smart Parts had a half hour to load up their trailer after pb expo (west) in a forty five minute period (before leaving to catch a flight) other vendors (myself included) stopped and helped them get out of their on time. Dispite the fact that most of them had just finished a second twelve hour day and had a ungodly long drive ahead of them.
Their is a level of respect and comrodery that exsists within the industry behind what you normally see the bond between players, reps, and other assorted figures in the industry. It is more of an extended family rather then a competitive group, we grasp this and understand it yet rarely talk about it as it is something that you learn with time. The group is tight nit and always willing to bend over backwards to help each other. The reason why? We RESPECT each other.
When you grasp this and stop attempting to trash talk and impress your friends and you step up to the plate and show respect and prove that you belong in this group...then you move farther ahead in the sport then all the posting and mouthing off can ever do.

Like I said before sex sells, honestly the cover is not bad, seen worse on sports ilustrated, Import Tuner, Men's Fitness, GQ and others... the content counts... I won't buy a paintball mag just based on how many naked girls there are in there "I'm a happily married man ( for 6 month now :P )" *note me giggling* <--- the mag needs info, good articles, helpfull review ect.. . if I want porn I'll justpick up a dedicated mag for that. :P

Respect is the key word here I think the magazine should have shown some respect when putting this picture on the front of their magazine. I have seen worse pictures in SI and other mags but we are targeting a certain age group and that is the 10 to 17 yo range. Anyone under 16 is going to be driven to the field by mom or dad most of the time it will be mom. We do not need the first thing they see to be a picture of have dressed women. Also the article in the first couple of sentences bashes the women of the WNBA by saying they are all g*y thats not the image I want in my shop or at my field. The kids want to buy anything related to this sport and thats why I don't want to stop carrying the mag I think they need to apologize to the WNBA players. As far as the women I was happy to see them target the women of paintball I feel it is needed my wife and I play once a week and my wife is very hot (told to me by almost everyone we meet) and she was thrilled to finally see a women in the mag that really does play the sport.

This is a hard issue. Prejudice has been battled on many fronts and for many, many years. On the subject of ladies, paintball, and paintball forums, the combining of these three things together could be easily solved in my opinion. An old adage is that a pre-occupation with sex comes from a lack of occupation with sex. Carrying on with this axiom, forum posters obsessive behavior with the random female posters comes from a lack of regular posting to allow the novelty to wear off and allowing folks to see that they are just regular people willing to contribute to improving the sport. I say let the ladies promote paintball as a uni-sex activity by being part of the family on all levels, just like the rest of us.

What might not be a crazy idea is let women design a women oriented advertisement or make the given product look glamorous ( which may be difficult in a mostly testosterone driven sport as of now). It would be better than the old Jt man designed woman oriented advertisements i have form a 2003 apg mag featuring breast protectors for women. That advertisement crashed and burnt.
