Avalanche Announces '06 Roster: Combine Farside Standouts & Returning Stars Brandon Mayo, Jason Barrett
KEARNEY, NEBRASKA. As the 2006 NPPL season begins later this month, professional icon Team Avalanche has announced the majority of its roster as they head toward Huntington Beach.

Two-Time World Champion Brandon Mayo will lead a team comprised of last year's most dynamic player - Jason Barrett, and the best core of the 2005 Chicago Farside roster.

The current roster includes:

Brandon Mayo [returner]
Jason Barrett [returner]
Kyle Pikrone [Farside]
Erik Westerberg [Farside]
Ben Chewning [Farside]
Tommy O'Donnell [Farside]
Andy Horvath [Farside]
Brock Jolliff [Diesel, Evil Factory]

A few remaining spots are still up for grabs as the team prepares for NPPL HB with two consecutive weeks of practices in St. Louis, Missouri.

Avalanche has also announced its administrative staff, as Greg Pauley [Diesel] and Chris Hass [former Chicago Farside captain] will assistant owner Ed Poorman as coaches / administrative staff for the team.

"I think we are going to surprise people," said owner Ed Poorman. "These kids are really hungry and play really hard. On the coaching side of things, Pauley and Hass are the perfect compliment to each other."

Mayo, a two-time NXL World Champion, will lead Barrett and a core group of Chicago Farside that has shown signs of brilliance over the last year and a half in NPPL Division I. The team won the '04 NPPL Vegas Open, and then returned to winning form three events later with a completely dominant victory at '05 NPPL Tampa Open, loosing only one match the entire event. Farside even boasts mutliple victories over Dynasty's semi-pro team, which features some of the best players in the world.

Avalanche will representing Planet Eclipse, using all their playing gear and the Planet-Warped Sportz collaboration marker, the Dark Ego.

"I've known Jacko from Planet for years," said Poorman. "He's a great guy, and Eclipse is making the best stuff. I think we have found a home as a Planet team." The team will retain NXE as a sponsor, wear V-FORCE goggles, use Crossfire Air systems as well as using Lucky 15 barrels, and Function hard parts. Action Village will also retain sponsorship of the team, and Avalanche apparel will be available through www.actionvillage.com and www.paintballgear.com.

Yep, they're back with a bunch of Farside players and a guy from Evil Factory. I don't think they're going to have a great season, but they'll do pretty well. Keep in mind that Dave Baines, Cowboy Roy, and a few others have gone to XSV.
