My friend has an ion with new trig and feed neck. Should he get a Nerve he found for cheap or just up what he has.
Any alt. suggestions?

i would have to say nerve on this one, but it's his decision, both choices would be good

Ion. Nerves are dead.

I had an ion for a while, and then found a nerve at rock bottom price, and just wouldn't pass up the opportunity, i got it and haven't been happier since. The nerve is more high maintenance tho, so as long as he knows how to keep up, fix, and adjust a marker, the he's good to go. go for the nerve. but keep the ion just cause they're more simple to use and upgrade, maybe as a project marker? that's what i did

Get the Nerve!!! i just got one a month ago and it is so fast. it can out shoot an ion 10 times out of 10. it is dead accurate with the freak barrel and it is perfect in every way.

how in the world are nerves dead? It's just as a fast as a shocker, more efficient, is REALLY easy to maintain, i mean really, you twist the back, pull out the bolt, run a battle swab through it, and its cleaned. You have to lube a few orings, as with any marker though. And at 475 new? Thats a steal. Way better than the ion. No question about it.

Nerve. No way an Ion can keep up with it. Plus, prices gonna drop even more soon.

we should all keep in mind your camparing a once 1000 dollar gun to a 300 dollar gun, nerves are SICK...I would definatly say pick one up...there is no better marker out for that price. There is no way in hell you will be disappointed if you pick up a nerve.

it goes up to 24bps in semi, 20bps in ramping (i think that is correct)

I use both an ion and a nerve. If you are on a budget I say keep the ion, but if not the nerve is the way to go. It is fast, light, effecient, and it is all around better than the ion.

if you get an ion and upgrade it you can easily outshoot any nerve, but you'll end up paying about the same maybe a little less on upgrades

But then, you can upgrade the Nerve as well (not that it particularly needs anything other than a more versatile board and a different trigger), so perhaps what you can achieve with upgrades isn't really the best way to make a decision - you can end up spending a lot of money on either marker.
As far as the stock markers are concerned, the only real advantage the Ion has over the Nerve is the break beam eyes. The use of the reflective Vision ball sensor is to my mind the only thing that really lets the Nerve down (other than the horrible looking LPR extension of course.....)
