Are thermal goggles worth the extra money, or should I just get a thermal insert, or anti-fog spray?

MOST DEFINITELY! I bought thermal goggles before i bought a paintball gun. They are so much better. I have the JT Spectra proshield, and I haven't been happier. Thermals almost never fog.. and when they do.. its a very small amount, not enought to obstruct your vision.

my first mask was a single pane lens. The very first time i played my mask fogged up like hell, it was not that fun to play like that. i was better off running in the open then playing with fogged up gog. I quickly got a thermal lens and noticed a very big difference! I highly suggest you get one! it is a must!

I heard it was hard to get thermals for JT elite series masks. I have an nVader, and after this thread really want to get some thermals :)

Yes, I highly recommend "going the extra mile" and get the thermal lense. The anti-fog spray, simply put, is a temporary solution. Fix the problem for good with the thermal lense.

Great now you have me sounding like a commercial :)

Where did you get tinted red thermal lenses? Does vision lessen at all?

I live in canada... I got it at a local store but its no extra for the red tint. For the lense you can get it tinted: yellow, pink, chrome, red, and another color i cant remeber. With the red its easier to tell the enmey from bush logs etc. To me it doesnt lessen the vision but choose on your style. *Its not made for low light condiitons!* You will get a reflection of your eyes in low light but it can be used during normal day even if cloudy. please excuse my spelling.

Its worth it, for about 40$ canadian. Also you should be able to find em on the net.

Other than seeing your reflection in dim conditions, is it bad?

Without a doubt, thermal lenses are worth the extra money. IF you cant afford it, the other options are okay, but they are either temporary or not as good as a thermal lens.

some tints give you diffent capabilities. Red/Orange/Amber/yellow tints give you higher distinctions of contrast. Basically youo can tell the outlines of things better. That is why shooting glasses are usually yellow.

Blue and clear are better for "lower" light condition

and smoke for bright light.

THis is just a perception and preference thing,.

Do they have those lenses at IIsports? How much does the thermal blue ones cost?

Thanks

Nvaders take the JT elite lens. We carry purple, rose, yellow, amber, chrome, clear, and smoke elite lenses.

Out of those, clear would acutally be best for low light conditions. Clear ones are $23.95

do you know where I can get blue?

THe little vents in the Nvader. do you sell different colored ones of those?

Paul

All this talk about different colours, I never thought about it. What would I want for outdoor play. I also play indoors at a place with yellow lighting and many dark places, but ones I could use outdoors I guess would be the colour I get.

I dont think they make a blue lens for the NvAder.

We do have the pods for the mask. They are 8.95, we have red and blue right now. You have to call us if you want it.

When you are playing outdoors, what woudl you like it to do?

the different colors give you different abilities...

again, yellow/amber/red give you improved contrast. Easier to make out outlines of objects.

Chrome/smoke easier to see in bright light, basically like sunglasses.

clear/blue for lower light conditions.

besides that i havent heard of any of the other colors that improve anything.

I belive that yellow or clear are the best colors, what do you think?

Im gonna start a new thread on that...

My first lense was a single,I fogged up every game i played even in winter. The first time i used a thermal was with my friends JT and this was in the summer, the lense was smoked, i really didnt like it that much, but it kept me from fogged. So about 7 months later (kinda of a long time to upgrade to thermal) i got a clear thermal lense, its one of the best upgrades i have ever bought. I got a JT Elite lense for my X-fire for $15 at countypaintball.com
