I'll just post the relevant bits.. Hope it helps..
I had the opportunity to meet Aardvark down at our local PB park, and he not only tuned up my Matrix, he even let me try on of his first run's of his Snort barrel, asking only that I give my opinion of it in return..
For those to which this would be important, the Snort apparently will have several bore sizes to choose from, but not as many as say the Freak system.. (Quality over quantity I suppose) It may matter to some, not as much to me, but that would be the only "downside" to the barrel, if you choose to call it that..
Anyway here's my thoughts on the Snort, from an earlier post..

Now for the interesting part.. I'd seen the pictures of the Snort barrel, and heard a bit about it.. Greg offers to let me try the barrel out on the field.. I'd been thinking of picking up a Freak kit at some point down the road, something to work well with the Matrix..
Not anymore..
I've got a stock matrix, Trinity, and just bought a bolt kit (grey/red) for reference..
The park I play at uses Diablo Blaze, which I personally quite like, I find them very consistent in size and quality.. To each their own though..
The look of the Snort is very nice, sleek, with some actual thought out design for once.. I swear sometimes one of the most uninteresting things in paintball is the bland barrels most companies sell, despite how well they may shoot..
I don't know if this is actually qualitative or not, but it seemed quieter than my stock Matrix barrel.. Though I never had them side by side shooting one after the other, the snort seemed to make a bit of difference in this area..
Warning, long explanation follows:
The Blaze paint was a nice fit for the barrel I was using (can't remember the bore size of the barrel I used)... I know there are many who say the ball should essentially "sit" at the end of the barrel and with a little air pressure (light blowing) should travel effortlessly down the barrel.. The blaze was small enough that it rolled down the barrel with no blowing behind it.. Though I'm not convinced that "sitting at the end of the barrel" constitutes a perfect fit.. While the paint rolled down the Snort with no help from me, there was no unwanted movement as the ball travelled.. The Snort was an excellent fit (at least the bore I used) for the Diablo paint..
I've had other barrels where Diablo (for example) was larger than the muzzle diameter.. I'd get the odd break sometimes right at the tip of my barrel most likely from the ball pinching before it exits the barrel. I've also used barrels where Diablo paint was far too loose a fit inside and the ball would "jitter" down the barrel which probably isn't that good for accuracy either..
Appologies for the long windedness, but to make that long story short... The Snort was an excellent fit for Diablo paint, which I'm sure contributed to the wonderful accuracy I got from it..
On Accuracy.. Since you're probably tired of reading by now, I'll keep this brief..
Within about 50' it was practically ball on ball.. something I can't say I see with my stock barrel.. I've also only heard about people with Autocockers (with the right barrel/paint) doing such things, never experienced it myself..
At around 75' I'd have a nice grouping of around 3-4", and still I'd have the odd cluster of ball on top of ball..
What was amazing to me was within 50' even hauling off on the trigger as fast as I could (which was fast thanks to Aardvarks trigger job) I could still keep it almost ball on ball.. I'm also by NO means a pro or tourney style player either, so I'll let you all imagine what you could do with it in competent hands..
In short, that Snort barrel is awesome, and has changed my thinking entirely about what I want next for my Matrix.. And I'm glad my first post to this forum could be about it..
Many thanks to Aardvark, very friendly guy and extremely helpful.. Hopefully we'll meet again, and maybe this time I'll see you play :) I was beginning to think you may go to paintball parks to repair and playing was secondary
many thanks again..
