Best gun? Hard to tell, preference really. By ratings: Ripper 'Timmy.

Those usually aren't used by noobs though.

Refurbed Imagine from Action village is your best bet.

Go with an Imagine, either new or refurbished. That way you have a gun for around $100 and it's an electo so you can shoot faster. Plus you can upgrade them as you get better.

Your best bet for a begginers gun is either the Spyder imagine or the Tippmann 98c.

Spyder if you play indoors/speedball, tippmann if you play woodsball alot.

And if you do end up getting your own gear, for good sake don't shop at wallmart!

Anyway, your two best bets at buying gear are actionvillage.com or, if you are like me, canadianpaintball.com

Really for a begginer an elctro might not be the best choice, I would reccomend any of the tippmanns except the C-3.

pick up a Victor II or Imagine or tippy just to make sure that you are going to like paintball then later you can upgrade. everyone who tries paintball likes it... some just dont like to pay any money to paintball so they quit.

There is no "best gun" to be completely honest. There are high end guns that have high end prices and high end maintenance.

I have to agree with those above. If you want a nice entry level marker, go with a Spyder Imagine or if you don't want Electro, get a refurbed x-tra. Spyders are super upgradeable, easy to clean, durable, and everybody knows how to work on them.

Tippmans are darn near indestructible. There aren't as many upgrades, comparatively, as the spyders have, but they are very user friendly.

Regardless of what you get, and assuming you are using CO2, get an anti-siphon tube for your tank. It's a bent tube that sucks gas instead of liquid into your marker.

Welcome to the sport and best of luck to ya.

There really is no best MARKER. For a begginer i usually suggest a tippy because there highly versatile MARKERS, and also very adaptable.
For the last time people, they are not guns they are MARKERS, i think i made that clear.

No one cares, unless it has to do politically or with a safety conscience parent if you call it a gun. Also Binx define highend maintenance. Like this I find my Icon much harder to clean and maintain then my Ion, and yet you would think it was the other way around.

Well, in terms of breaking down the marker to clean it and what not. In spyders and tippmans, there are no pneumatics in your base models. Every thing fits and what not.

I was more refering to cockers, angels, tiimy's and such. Things you have to tweak instead of throwing a hopper on and slinging some paint....in new to the sport way...

Also, to the original poster, you need to look and see how much time you can and are willing to dedicate to cleaning. Every marker should be cleaned after every outting. Tippmans will work under misuse, whereas spyders really need to be cleaned and lubed. Again, though, you should clean your marker after every time you play.
