I dont know if this was mentioned before but I just realized OPSGEAR's HQ and Special Ops paintball are located very very close to each other. OPSGEAR's address is 890 W. Center Street, Unit 4 North Salt Lake, UT 84054. Special Ops's address is 155 N Redwood Rd Suite B North Salt Lake, UT 84054. Heres the directions from OPSGEAR to Special Ops.
OPSGEAR Map (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=890+w+center+street+north+salt+lake+ut+8405 4&hl=en) . Special Ops Paintball Map (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=155+N+Redwood+Rd+Suite+B+North+Salt+Lake,+UT+840 54&ll=40.845437,-111.930685&spn=0.015096,0.042572). They are only .3 miles away from each other. For 2 companies competing against each other to be that close, is odd. From what I know, they are not owned by the same people and OPSGEAR was founded first. The explaination for it might be the same as Tippmann and Ben Tippmann. Since OPSGEAR was first (2001) and Special Ops (2004) was 3 years later, I think an employee might of broke away from OPSGEAR to make his own company. I am a big OPSGEAR person and are somewhat anti Special Ops because they invaded my area. Cousins Paintball, which own a few paintball shops and fields near me, has just agreed to sell Special Ops products in their stores. I have looked at their products and Im not impressed at all. A lot of their stuff does nothing for the guns performance and is made of plastic. Plastic is okay but for the same price you can get metal products from OPSGEAR. Also, what I found was that Special Ops is advertising a lot and there ads and ways of selling things is in a way that attracts noobs. OPSGEAR has products that help your gun and look nice too. Dont get me wrong, Spec Ops has some nice stuff but I perfer OPSGEAR. What do you think?
The amount of Spec Ops ads makes me believe they might be desperate.

Interesting, but I'm more for performance of my gun rather then looks. I have seen people at my local field with scopes and man do they get laughed at. The auto-cocker guys think its really fun and when we put these guys up against each-other (scenario kinda stuff, like what you get off opsgear and etc vs speedball, alien gun type people) in any game whether it be speedball or full field, the scenario dudes always loose. But I did once see some real awesome players (scenario), like the best I had ever seen and everyone wanted them to take on 2 guys with DM6's and when they didn't I was like

As oposed to the six, (yes count them), six diffrent bi-pods that you can buy from opsgear.:eyes:
Mil-sim is just for looks, and feel. The only big diffrence between the two stores that I can see is that Spec Ops has the brigade, locator, forums, and the SPPL. They are actualy doing somting for the woodsball and mil-sim comunity (the majority of paintballers and by far the largest revanue pool). And not just selling aritifical thirty round magazines. I don't know wich one sells better products. But I know wich one is promoting a safe and positive way to grow the sport. And it aint opsgear.
Oh, they also have a tactics portion of thier site specificly devoted to showing newbs the importance of flanking, comunication, cover fire, use and importance of masks, use and importance of chronographs, ect..........
So . . . . . to sum up my basic point here.
Opsgear = selling milsim stuff and raking in huge profits.
Spec ops = selling milsim stuff and raking in huge profits. Then using a portion of those profits to promote saftey, a positive image of the sport, and a league for woodballers, fair play.......ect.

OK?:eyes:
so since i have a ZeroB cocker and a milsim 98c i should laugh at myself??
Opsgear is the place i buy from, their products are of better quality imo. both companies are doing an excellent job in promoting the milsim side of paintball. spec ops is trying to broaden their horizons with more options however. opsgear is geared more toward the hardcore milsim enthusiast, like my dad. former special response team member and now in law enforcement, he likes the opsgear stuff. there are countless types of stock, bipods, grips, etc out there, b/c companies are trying to compete.if you have a weaver mount bipod, it wont' fit on anyting but a weaver, so there are hopefully several types to fit all aspects of the players needs. but honestly, when some1 has a 6x42 scope on their marker, i do laugh. yeah you can see em at 500yds, but, well, thats about it.

Paintball is all about the player. Mil-slim fake magazines kind of thing is not for me. I'm more for the performance department of paintball then looks. But some of the scenario type looking guns preform beautifully. I have held some of the more scenario type guns like the BT16 and they have an incredible feel but its not the thing for me. Thats all I'm saying.

i dont really know alot about ops gear , but i do know that specops does a really good job in bringing people into the sport. they have the game locator which really helps me , and the brigade part is pretty cool with the stats and stuff. also, they have some SICK guns (in a good way) they are overpriced , but they do seem like they would preform well.

I can't stand SpecOps. Just look at their website. Broadsword Heavyrifleman? Is it really that hard to say frontman / backman... even pointman? :eyes:
And everything about them screams tippmann. Did they get a deal or something? The SPPL will allow ANY tippman but has special rules about other markers. What's the deal? You can prefer one marker, but do you need to bend rules to try to sell more tippmanns?
It just disgusts me how bias they are toward tippmann. There are other markers! hello?!
Maybe i should visit this other site......

I don't like either Opsgear of Special ops. opsgear is always out of everything and incredibly expensive. and special ops doesn't really have much of anything. I do however like the tactics and brigade page that special ops has. if you want to buy good quality products go to www.firstcallpaintball.com (http://www.firstcallpaintball.com) these people have friendly customer sevice and sell the cheapest high quality products online.

I like specops more, simply for the fact that they sell things I might actually put on my marker.
And for the guy who says they are biased towards tippmanns, of course they are!! Most woodsballers use them so they are a prime target for product advertisments and ego stroking.
