Well the guns I own now are described in my sig. I used to favor the DM5 over the Ego, but now Im having a change of heart. I have trouble walking the trigger on the Ego, not comfortable with the whole magnet return/opto switch. This past weekend I played with a friends Ego with a Virtue board and I fell in love completely. I have now decided to get a Virtue board for the Ego, along with a UL barrel, and start using that as my primary marker, but I still do love my DM5. Its so hard choosing between guns. The Ego is just so much lighter, and way more comfortable to me. What other ups can I do to the ego, its stock right now so I got a clean slate. I was thinking a bolt with a delrin pin, is this worth it? What are your thoughts?

An Ego is somewhat like an Angel. They don't require much upgrading, at all. I would suggest pick up the barrel and board, then get a new trigger, bolt, and new grips. I really don't think that a Delrin Bolt Pin is worth it at all, because it jsut reduces friction and wear, with a smoother operation.

Really, I don't think a delrin pin is worth it. But then I have a Nexus bolt which is plenty light enough.

You could get a ram cap, that decreases rollback (not usually a problem) and can decrease kick if tuned properly.

I personally would suggest Tadao over Virtue, but that's personal preference. And the fact that I hate Virtue (lots of stupid crap that they've pulled).

Honestly, Egos are one of the least upgradeable markers, partly because they're relatively new and partly because they usually don't need upgrades.

I think delrin pin IS worth it, for $15. If you really want to upgrade, I'd just throw a St!ff! on there, board of your choice, delrin pin, and....that's about it. I heart my Ego almost completely stock, just the St!ff! on thurrrrr.

EDIT: you have an 05. you could consider putting an 06 STAR trigger on it, if you don't like the 05.

Yeah but I've heard numerous reports of delrin pins (on Intimidators and Egos) snapping during use. They aren't very strong.

I've put at least 10-15 cases through my ego with delrin pin and it hasn't shown any signs of wear yet. This is a delrin pin from Paintball4less, I can't comment on the NDZ one or any others.

I don't know if the pin is really worth it (especially if you already have an aftermarket bolt), but if you have a stock bolt it doesn't hurt to have one. Plus I wanted to use the stock 05 bolt with o-rings to help consistancy a bit, so a delrin pin helps lighten the load.

As for the board, I have tadao in my ego and my buddy just put virtue in his. I haven't shot his yet, but hopefully I'll be able to write a review comparing the two in the near future. I would suggest looking into the tadao though, those LED's are super sexy.

I have owned both in other guns. I have a virtue in my DM5 and I love it. I have shot my friends Ego with Virtue and loved the feel. I had a Ripper2 Intimidator with Tadao, but that was the old m3 software. Ill just stick to what I know and like which is Virtue.

Because they're actually pretty simmilar, except ego's arent overrated blenders. Oops, did I say that?


p8ntball4less' delrin pullpin is quality, they were (are) used in many of the high level eclipse sponsored teams from the beast coast; distortion, ESP, Hurricanes, PTI etc. and performed flawlessly.
