Ive been in a debate with my friend wheter or not the size of your barrel affects the accuracy. He keeps on insisting that the longer the barrel the more accurate it is, he doesnt believe me that barrel size doesnt affect accuracy. In a last desperate attempt to get him to believe me id like to hear it from you guys. And if im wrong the dont flame the hell out of me.

the tip doesnt do much for accuracy. in fact it doesnt do anything at all, i've played games with only my barrel back before.

The LENGTH of the barrel matters less than the bore, which is the width of the barrel at the back. It is critical in both the paint/bore match and big bore theories. However, length does still play a big part in accuracy. Never, ever go over 16 inches.

The paint to bore match is almost the MOST important thing for accuracy. With barrel lengths, the only difference in accuracy will be between something like an 18" vs. a 10"...and its not much of a difference. The honest fact is that the paint itself determines accuracy the most, and the paint to bore size match determines the spread a little bit more. Also, this is off topic, but the longer the barrel can subtract from your overall amount of shots from a tank, because more air is needed to propel the ball out of the barrel.

He probably thinks that they're arrogant.
Paint to bore match > length of barrel. 16 inch max.

quality paint>paint to bore match>length of barrel

after about about 8 inches the paintball will stop accelerating. It will then have to use the next few inches to stabilize and decelerate.
If your gun shoots very hot, go for 16 inches, because thats the max you can go before you start to see a decline in performance.

Technically, the longer the barrel the more accurate it will be, but past 16 inches you are talking about millionths of degrees. Additionally, the amount of air that must be displaced in a longer barrel would be very detrimental to velocity, and while you can increase your velocity, this will also increase gas consumption and the chances of a barrel break due to overpressurizing the shell of the ball.

buy a good 12 inch barrel then show him how accurate it is ;)

Very well said!!! over 14 inches the added legnth causes friction on the ball that slows it down. What you friend is thinking about only applies to weapons that shoot well over 1000fps...not >300 fps.

Barrel length does affect accuracy; a 3" barrel will be les accurate than a 14" barrel on average, however, after around I'd say 12" it doesn't really matter much. I'd dare to say as low as 8" and there is no gain. However, a longer barrel let's you press in the side of an airball bunker.
Pain-to-bore match...that's argumental. First is the sheer practicality of it (it's not very). Second, it's changed so much...used to be tight bore like a real gun, then large bore, now it varies. Third, studied some tests and in those tests, it does not seem to show any correlation (again, those tests). I simply use detent rings on my Phantom which is .691 and it is very accurate, even on CO2 and using various sized paint.
