For those of you who are playing paintball in College (or have played at a College and graduated) I was just wondering how paintball was. Im going to college in two years, and this would be major part of the desiscion. I have seen this site (http://www.college-paintball.com) But all that has is numbers, I wanna know how is paintball at your college?

Don't decide on a college based on paintball. And anyways, what will your parents think, Junk? "Hey, appa, I'm going to college for paintball!"

if you read the website he posted, i dont think people are doing it as a profession through a college. it sounds like more of a promotional thing of paintball as a sport and presenting it in a positive light to other colleges and organizations as well.

The National Collegiate Paintball Association is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization created by college players to promote paintball at the interscholastic level. The NCPA and its member clubs organize recruitment drives, informational meetings, recreational club outings, scenario and big games, charity events, intrascholastic events for other university organizations, and of course the national intercollegiate tournament league. NCPA members play a vital role in presenting paintball to the public in a positive manner through various volunteer and legislative efforts. The NCPA also provides various benefits for its members.

Don't decide on a college based on paintball.
paintball is considered a club sport at most colleges.. meaning it doesn't get much if any money from the school and the responsibility is on the students to take care fo their needs.

The people who play paintball in college do so because they like paintball, but they like their school even more and they're getting an education. Pick your school based on what you'd like to do in life and if they have a paintball club then kudos. If they don't, start one up.

Playing paintball in college is just like playing paintball on a local team. you face the same challenges, the same team issues, and the same costs.. you just party a lot more :D

...and have less disposable income in college as well. Like Dag said, pick a good college based on what you want to do afterwards. Paintball will still be there and if you get into the right job field, you'll be able to play paintball much easier as a result. I'd rather be unsponsored and have a good job than be sponsored and have a lousy job and broke.

could you just answer the goddam question instead of telling me what I should think?
If I had to decide between University A and University B (which were equal in most respects) I'd pick the one with more paintball. If I had to pick between Cornell University and University of Bull****, my choice is a bit obvious.
I'm not looking to do paintball as a proffession Im becoming a doctor (Ill do your brain surgery in 20 years). Paintball is a hobby I enjoy.

So back to the question, how is paintball at your college?

My college isn't nearly big enough for paintball recognition. I really don't care though because I have enough friends and neighbors to play with every so often.

I'm personally applying to Iowa State because of the awesome athletics and education programs. They have a paintball team which is pretty good also, so i can play there while getting an excellent education.. My teamate and i from Wisconsin are going there because it's one of the best schools in between Wisco and Missouri.

If your gonna be doctor you probably won't have time for paintball in college.

Or ever again.

Think about that.

if you can make a living playing paintball.. more power to ya. Paintball is a major part of many people's lives but it doesn't mean you give up your education to play ball because all indications point to you won't be making a career of playing ball.

I'm not saying don't play paintball in college, I'm saying don't choose a school just because it has a paintball team and don't expect paintball to be a school funded sport like football, basketball, etc..

Everyone here is saying he should make the right desigion in life rather than paintball, and you come in here and say something like that? He should become a doctor so he can do my brain surgery in 20 years (if I'm not dead).

I always thought the right decision in life is supposed to make yourself happy while being able to survive, not bring you ludicrous riches.

I always thought the right decision in life is supposed to make yourself happy while being able to survive, not bring you ludicrous riches.

This is currently what is happening to me:

I paintball. I like it a lot. There is no paintball here. I'm not happy. Because I'm miserable, I can barely function and do work. I can only paintball at home and I haven't shot anything in about 3 months. To get to paintball around where I am:

$30 cab ride
$30 entry
$15 paint (I play pump)

That's still 75 just to play once, that's too much for me as a student.

Make sure you are happy. That's all I gotta say. If you don't have any fun at all, it gets dull, real fast.

EDIT: Yes, I drink and party and such, but I'd like to know at least a FEW people I have something in common with.

Well it is.

If you are ok with giving up some things.

Basketball player Shaquielle O'neal once said
"At the end of the day, none of the fame, wealth and contracts really matter. All I really want is to play some ball."

My advice is to enjoy the last few years of paintball you have left. Someday your gonna grow up, get a job, have a family, grow old, and you just won't be able to play paintball anymore. That will be your hardest lesson.

Thanks for that, what he said made me very depressed(I was kinda already cause I can't do ANYTHING not even paintball this weekend), then I read that and now I am not so sad, you made my night.

So I am pleased to present to you one of the highest honor (unofficial, but they should make it official) in this forum.

:tup::jester::tup: The clown thumbs up.

This award is not supported by pbreview.com, nor does it really mean anything at all.
The general paintball forum also doesn't support this, it really doesn't mean S***.

Congrats.

i do believe you should do what you like, if you can make a suitable living off of it family or not. but if it doesn't, you can't pay bills or feed yourself or others with happiness....sacrifices must be made for all the obligations in your new life (family)....but if your all by yourself, and don't really mind not having anything at all, then by all means go out and do something you really love that doesn't give you enough money.

and college during paintball for me is becoming more and more hard to do....17 hours doesn't give me alot of free time to play or get a job.....that and the whole not having enough extra spending money puts a damper on my paintball outings

i really don't know how much longer i'll be playing....bc you can't play forever (unless you go pro i guess). but i wouldn't mind being an electrical engineer who balls it up on the weekends :)

Yea, it doesn't change the fact your still going to get a job, have to pay bills, and grow into a weak old man. And if you try to play all the younger kids on the field will be like "I don't want that old ******* on my team he sucks LOL" then they'll just gog you in the game with there 21st century guns.

he'd probably have 20 more years of being an active stud if he doesnt have a family to take care of. theres a crap load of older guys playing paintball and killing fools and a couple of them even have kids. Ever hear of Rocky Cagnoli?

i know people who used to go skiing during college and go partying during college (uncles, friends, cousins) and they said if you can manage your time, then you would be fine.

I think paintball and brain surgery are feasible side by side, maybe not as feasible or leasurly as I would like to be, but hey, Ill take what I can get.

that was a pretty interesting discussion on morals and paintball stuff, I agree that putting a hobby before eduction is really ridiculous and I would probably not do that very often.

anyways anybody else have a college to reccomend or dereccomend? places in new york maybe?
