What is a stepped barrel?

I noticed that the Dye boomstick has a stepped barrel, and many other aftermarkets don't. What exactly is a stepped barrel, and how does it help? hurt? Thanks, Jay

Most two piece barrels are going to be stepped bore. Stepped bore basically means that the back piece is of smaller bore and the front piece (bore controller) is of larger bore. Its not suppose to hurt.. But with helping the front piece just basically guides the ball. Not to shabby, im not sure if it really helps or not.
