Right now I have a pretty nice Ion. I'm addicted to buying paintball guns and now i've been thinking of buying a nerve. Would my Ion beat a stock nerve? My ion has been having a lot of trouble lately(mainly my fault) and I have had to miss a few days of paintball. Would you guys recommend my Ion(when working) being my main gun and a stock nerve being backup? Or other way around. If I ever buy the nerve I will not buy as much upgrades as i have for my ion.

Well, if your decision is between which marker to use as your primary, and which as your back up, it suggests that you are going to buy the Nerve either way. In which case, try them both out side by side and decide which you like the most - that one is your primary.

my ion is my baby that doesnt work when i want it to. I am thinking i could just buy a nerve and keep it mostly stock and use that whenever i need to.

I don't hear alot about Nerves having many problems. I would stick with the Ion as the back-up and buy a Nerve.

even with my upgraded ion a stock nerve would be a good main gun?

Look at it this way, the Nerve is a $999 marker that has come down in price due to market forces, and the Shocker proving more popular. The Ion is a $300 marker that you have built up.

The nerve has a trigger with front and rear trigger stops, and adjustable magnetic return strength. You also have a separate adjustable trigger activation point, which can be set in one of two places to change the leverage on the microswitch to change the feel of the trigger pull. No roller bearing on the stock trigger, but a lot of adjustment available.

Comes stock with the short, SP Angle drop forward, and an SP quarter turn on/off ASA.

You get a stainless back Freak barrel with an All American front and a 0.693 steel insert as your stock barrel.

The Q-lock is the stock feed neck.

Stock regulator is the vertical Max-Flo reg.

No QEV is required.

The stock board offers a 25 gram microswitch as standard, and has semi and ramping as standard, with adjustable ramp activation speed and adjustable rate of fire.

So, you basically get the SP equivalent of most of the upgrades you have bought for your Ion, as standard, out of the box. You also get SP's top of the range grips, an adjustable LPR (gives more options for tuning your markers operation and efficiency), full metal construction, and a field strippable quick release bolt. You also have no LP hoses, and an enclosed solenoid. The only thing that the Ion really has over the Nerve is the Ion's break beam eyes, while the Nerve has to settle for the Vision reflective eye system.

I do have a Nerve (only got it recently - the reduced price was too much of a temptation!) but I am not on AIM or any other messaging system. You can PM me if you want.

I recently sold my Ion, and just bought a Nerve. We can tell you stuff about it, but once you try the Nerve out in person, you'll like it better than your Ion.

And plus, they take the same barrels, so you can sell the stainless steel freek that comes with the Nerve, and you'll drive the price down even lower.

Dude, Nerve is alot cheaper than all those. Plus, it totally kicks the Sh!t out of my Ion. Trust me, I have both. If you even consider using an Ion before a stock Nerve, you need to go see a psychiatrist. Not to mention that if you don't think your Nerve is performing at its best, the only possible upgrade you could ever need is a new board, which is uses the same boards as shockers. Try www.virtuepaintball.com (http://www.virtuepaintball.com) for boards and see that the boards you buy for Nerves and Shockers are the same, making them just about the same in performance.

ION AS BACKUP...don't forget the nerve was a 1000 dollar gun, it didnt drop in price because it wasn't performing. Nerves are SICK, you won't be dissappointed.
