once i set the rebounding mode the way i want it and screw the grips back on, when i start to play and want to switch from semi to rebound mode, do i need to open the grips back up or what?

you have to open the frame to switch from semi to rebound with stock electronics

No, the ability to switch modes without having to access the board would make the marker illegal in tournament play. Having to open up the frame to change modes acts as the "tourny lock". For instance, if you were playing under NPPL rules (unlimited semi) and then switched to ramping, you would be breaking the rules.

electronics such as the predator board
can change modes without opening the frame
basically you repgram the gun with certian amount of trigger pulls(your gun does not shoot though)

there is dip switch inside the frame on the board that acts as a tourney lock
if it is on you can't change modes or go to program mode
if it is off you can change modes and go in program mode

the best thign to do if you want to go semi or ramping
is set your ramping to liek 12 bps activaion so you can shoot farely fast without ramping
and if you need to ramp speed your fingers up to 12

(saying you can pull 12 bps if not than 10 if not 10 than 8...)

However, even with the aftermarket boards, you cannot change modes at the touch of a button, even if the tournament lock is off.

You would need to turn off the marker, hold the trigger, switch the marker back on, pull the trigger the correct number of times to get in to the mode select menu, pause, then pull the trigger the right number of times to select the firing mode you wanted. Then switch off the marker, and switch it on again. You are then in the new mode.
