i was wondering if barrel length affects the distance or accuracy of the shot????????????????

no man, not in any way shape or form

yup. the length of the barrel will NOT affect range at all (except maybe the few inches longer it is) and it is easier to sight with for some people, it will have no more range or accuracy than a shorter barrel.

Actualy the longer the barrel the more CO2/air is needed to get the ball out therefore a longer barrel would decrease range.

No it would decrease efficiency since you gotta use more air to get the same distance

OK...I can agree w/ what these guys are saying to an extent. Longer barrels may not be as accurate, but they are more consistent. For those who don't know the distance, accuracy is the ability to hit a certain spot, whereas consistency is the ability to shoot several shots in a relatively close area. Trust me on this one, I have a 20" barrel, and, compared to my 10", it is more consistent at medium distances(50 ft, give or take, Im not good at guessing distance). Jay

i bet a 12" would do almost as much better than the 10" as the 20"
longer than like 14" it's just a waste of space
it's more cumbersome

Long barrels aren't more "consistant"...

They have a longer sight radius. If you barrel sight that makes aiming them easier.

Are you telling me that if you shoot the SAME gun at the SAME distance, that a short barrel will be just as consistent as a long barrel? By the way, have you ever owned a longer barrel?

Well, I don't know how a 16" smooth bore barrel would compare, but I have a 16" Armson stealth riffled barrel that I love  so much, that compared to my 10" smooth bore barrel is incredable. I was playing in a rivine that was abuot 100ft. across at least, and my 10" barrel couldn't could only shoot about 75ft.:eyes: , (boy, was I mad):pissed:,but with my 16in riffled barrel, at the same velocity, it was shooting well over the rivine:P. Also with my armson barrel I hit my friends hopper that was sticking out from a tree about 5in from 60-75 ft. away, ON PURPOSE:D. So in my expirence, Yes a longer barrel(or at least a riffled barrel), does improve range and accuracy.

well most of the time length doesnt matter. only when you're comparing, say, a 7" to a 15".

well, a change from 7 to 15 is 8, and a change from 12 to 20 is...
Raider Man, do you like your Armson Stealth?

Yes, I've tried 8 inch and 14 inch barrels and gotten the same results

8 to 14 is also different from 10 to 20.

I've owned barrels ranginging from 8 to 14 inches. With properly matched fresh paint they perform the same. Any and every paintball ballistics test done will back that info up. The longer sight radius of the 12 and 14 inch barrels makes them easier to barrel sight. You notice smaller movement much easier with a longer barrel. As for Raider Man, if he shot a 10 inch and a 16 inch of identical bore size (I'm will assume they were not) with the same paint, he would get the same result. The riffled barrel doesn't affect accuracy, it may cut the noise though.

the longer the barrel, the more friction you place on the traveling paintball, there for decreasing its range, but increasing your velocity;)
the longest shot ever achieved w/ a paintball gun, this was before a backspin, was w/ a 3.5" barrel...something like that:D

If a barrel is longer, there is a SLIGHT chance it will travel to its target straighter.

Whats the whole point of having different lengths in barrels then?

Quietness, looks, easier to aim for some people, ***** envy.

btw, ***** envy=Mine is longer! It's better! haha!
