Does anyone here actually play tourneys or is on a real, practicing, team? Im not talkin like, a few friends who are like "We're a team :) " but rather a team that you have sunk money into, practice every week, have sponsors, etc. Im just wonderin cause I remember when I first came here like, when all these dudes had the like, Geocities team websites I was so jealous, and now im actually on a good team with good players and stuff and have a real team website. BTW, no hate on the begginer teams, you need to start somewhere.

i went to practice day once at my field, and i had a blast getting my butt kicked. i'm trying to start a team with some of my friends who are really good, but they would rather go on saturday and own all the little noob kids.

so yeah, i'm about an average player, but i'm trying to get myself better.

Well, we are a new team. We have only been to two tournaments. So I wouldnt call us that great yet. No sponsors yet, but each time we go out, we have a hell of a time, so who really cares.

I used to captain a sponsored tourney team, but I had to quit due to time and money contraints. I'm planning on getting a new setup and joining back up with the field's new team soon though.

And due to the fact that we are sponsored by a web hosting site that made the same site for the New England Hurricane I wouldnt talk.
I can see what he was saying, I saw your ages, and I though "12, 14, 16, is that there barrels? No thats their age? How can he say he's pro if he's at most 16." But now with the clarification, I understand.

Currently ranked as a D2 player in the PSP. Last year we placed in the top 16 for D2 5 man. This year, I may play Chi-town and Pittsburgh, but I will be on the field taking pics either way.

I Captained a fairly serious team of friends for a season, but we split apart when everyone started paying for cars and girlfriends. We were the primary sponsored team for a local field, but I think that hurt us more than helped :dodgy: but that's another story... Now I'm playing Novice with my little bro and his team, but I'm not too serious about it any more.

Used to play on a sponsored team, wasn't a buddy started one it was field scouted roster of rookie and nov players. We practiced 2-3 times a month and usually played a tournament a month.
Then some conflicts arose and half disbanded and the other half of us just play tournies casually for fun now.

I do XPSL. I love my field cause we got teams like 1up kids, Sniper Force, and FYT that regularly play there. (I don't know if many people have heard of em, 1 up and FYT are D2, SF is Semi) I used to get killed by them, but I've been able to get one or two of em out every once in a while now.

I used to be in the whole team/tourney scene, but it's pretty hard to play paintball as much as I used to now that I'm in college. When I get out of school it'll be a lot easier and I plan on opening my own field/Pro-Shop. But when I do play I enjoy playing against more experienced people than me.

Kind of sounds like you're glorifying yourself. Anyway, there's a handful of people on these boards that probably meet and surpass your standard of what "experience" is. You can find plenty of pros on PBN.

i suck..i've been to a field just once. i just pretend i'm good with all my knowledge and then just suck it up on the field. i just play to have fun. my friends and i just aren't committed to making a team and the nearest field is an hour away so we just play in a grove with some bunkers n' stuff. it's like a woodsball and speedball mixture of playing.

Binx
04-09-2006, 07:42 PM
Man...I suck so bad. I rarely get eliminations, and if I'm NOT eliminated from a game, I'm pleasantly suprised. I play stupid and refuse to take cover. I usually am the decoy. I like to tell people that in reality, I'm drawing fire so my team mates can surround the other team. The truth is, I just suck and I want to do something to help out....but I still suck.

Oops, you caught me :dodgy: Just kidding, I dont plan to be pro, and frankly dont want to be. I think it would take a lot of the fun out of it.

Smittay and Binx. Dont be so hard on yourselfs. Everyone started out that way. Some may have had a better nack for it to start, or were a bit faster, or whatever, but we are all still there to have fun. And as long as you have a good attitude and keep playing, you will find yourself on the other end of the sucky-stick, and you will be dishing out the paint like mad. Just keep to it and try to practice as much as possible.

Psycho Warden. Thanks for the vote of confidence...but it's not like it's anything new (my bad playing). I've been playing since about 97ish and nothing has changed...other than me moving slower.

I'm not complaining. I have fun doing what I do. And if you saw me play, you'd see I'm not being hard on myself. Just brutally honest :)

Though I am old some may say I still have some skills.

However I believe the highest ranking person on the forums would have to be Z@EMoney. I know hes at least ranked Semi Pro and an active player but I was hearing that he signed something with a Pro team, but anyhow thats about the highest ranking player on the forums thats active around here.

Lopez was in a magazine once I believe and he plays with a decent level team.

Z@Emoney like most company reps isnt online visibly that much, but the record stands (I need to confirm it first but I am almost postive) that he has appeared in every magazine except facefull in an article hes written or photos of him modeling or playing. I don't know for sure but I saw him spending an unusual amount of time with Rocky Knuth at HB and at the ND's booth....not to mention he was walking around drinking their water...might be something going on there...or then again he might just be working out a deal with the Dogs to set up a facility or something.

He still does. Past history and track record you can find a photo, nametag/id, or person at just about any major company that hes helped out.

Right now hes with Action Town Sports (Money Paintball/firstcall...etc) though I heard some talk about him leaving to work with a leauge. Also hes a regular in SPLAT MAGAZINE (may 1st...him+scenario = blackmail to the XTREME!)

We had a team, comprised of me, 2 cousins and 4 friends (Team Versatile). We were lined up for two local tourneys last fall but only the 4 friends had enough money to enter when the deadline approached so they gathered a couple of their own friends to enter (they place 11th or 17th out of 35-30 or something like that, don't remember). Then one of my cousins couldn't play anymore (liver cancer) so we decided not to enter the second tourney. He died last November. We all stopped playing and i started reffing exclusively.

Well now we're all back together and getting ready for local tourneys in late spring & summer. We don't plan on advancing into higher ranks or even winning any of them, we just want to get the experience before we all turn 30.
