I am fairly new to paintball i have been playing it for 2-3 years now, but have not been on a tournament team yet, i have exp with speed ball and such and im looking for a good marker to get in the price range of 400-500$ range im just lookin for some ideas for markers, so if you post please have exp using the marker so you could tell me why its the best gun for 400-500, i have been lookin at the shocker/intimidator so far but lookin for more ideas :blah:

you could go with a proto matrix not the pm6 they are smaller dye matrixes, same company. they are fast light, and have some good upgrades for them. check ebay pr pbnation for cheap ones

I'm not sure what you shoot now and that would potentially play a small role in getting a new marker. Based on your price range you could probably find a used and up'd DM4 or Proto Matrix 5 which are great mid level tourney guns that plenty of competative level players use. Maintenance is not terribly difficult and I think if you can perform regular maintenance on a DM4, you'll have no problem picking up other guns. A timmy would also be great but in that price range you're looking at older timmy's (not really any problem with older timmy's) but the newer 2k5 frames are a plus. If you can find a used timmy with 2k5 frame then I'd jump on it. Shockers are great markers to own and one of my personal favorites, I'd caution about getting one with no up's as they can be really finicky. Also Angel speeds take a little getting used to but rip with the best of them, aren't too bad maintenance wise and can be generally found used at decent prices.

i started off playing with the m3 black dragun basic with a teardrop barrel, nothing special just a neat starter gun if anything. yea im trying to get something light so im leaning twords the shocker, i like the simple design they have going, thanks for ideas im still gonna do a little more research right before i purchase but the ideas are greatly apreciated

Do you have a HPA tank and a loader? If not, then look into Ions. If you do, used timmys, DM4s, Angel Speeds are all good bets.

Have a look at a SP Nerve as well. You can pick them up NIB (new in the box) for a shade north of 400. Originally they sold for 1000+.

Yeah, I shot a nerve today...:D :D :D :D :D :D
Very solid, very fast, lightweight, comes with freak barrel.
The gun shoots really well. It just pissed me off it was in the hands of some 9 year old newb instead of a good money-earning player.
If someone would buy my Wrath, I'd sell it and get one of these. $400 off of www.actionvillage.com
