Data: How many port holes in (brand) Barrel???

Hi there,

I'm trying to figure out how many holes are in each barrel, with the overal objective of finding a quiet barrel. I've tried looking up pictures and counting the holes but that didn't work out because pictures only show part of the barrel.
I've searched this forum and came up with nothing, not even an old thread so maybe it hasn't been asked yet.

I'm running an Ion so I'm not worried about chops or the ability of a barrel to shoot through breaks. I'll edit this first post to reflect input from you guys.

Please list holes for specific lenghths :) 10", 12", 14"

Dye Ultralite/Boomstick 10" 30 holes, 12" 51 holes, 14" .......

What about the size of the holes, no, no reason to have to know how many holes are in a specific barrel.

I would think an Ion is pretty quiet...compared to rentals and HP blowbacks.... anyway... I have a Progressive and it isnt quiet at all.... my Boomstick is very quiet, my CP is pretty good too. IMO the paint to barrel bore match makes the biggest difference that will make your marker quiet.

The number of holes isnt the only factor in how quiet a barrel is. Totally disregarding the marker which has more to do with it than the barrel.
The things that contribute to the quietest barrel are:

Length-Very short are very loud,but to long and it doesnt make a diference
Shape and Direction of Holes
Where the Holes are Placed on the Barrels-If the holes are too close to the
marker then it will be louder
Paint Match to the Barrel
Matrial that the Barrel is Made out of

This is a totally pointless thread and should be closed before you start getting flamed.

Yeah dude, you're shooting a Piranha. No barrel in the world will quiet that thing down. A delrin bolt will help marginally, but blowbacks are loud guns. period.

I know that different lengths will effect the sound.
I know that the shape and direction of the holes effect the sound.
I know that the placement of the holes effect the sound.
I know that paint to barrel match will effect sound.
I know that the material used to make the barrel will effect the sound.

What I don't know is how many port holes are in each barrel at each lengh.

So please, if you have a barrel that's on the list, take a few seconds to count them and let me know.

The biggest thing that is going to effect how loud a gun is it's operating pressure. An 800 psi blowback is going to be a low louder than a gun running at 200 psi.

What I don't know is how many port holes are in each barrel at each lengh.

So please, if you have a barrel that's on the list, take a few seconds to count them and let me know.

I can find all the other information on my own.
All I'm looking for is info on how many holes are in the barrel.
