Alright, as many of you know the ASA on an Ion sucks, so I'm looking for a new one. But I really...just have no idea where to start or what to look at, especially with the lack of reviews (really, who wants to review an ASA?). So, I was wondering if any of you could point me in the right direction. Thanks.

when you say ASA to you mean you just want a new drop forward, ASA is a thread type, bottles have it, expansion chambers have it, regulators have it....
so what do you want?

Anything CP or NDZ. Trinity is also good.

Go with a direct mount.

I basically just need something to get rid of the duckbill, which adds more length to my gun than I'd prefer. Should I get the direct mount or the on/off direct mount?

Depends where you want the on/off or not.
I have an on/off, but I personally dislike them.

CP direct mount on/off = the smoothest on/off EVAR!@4 Highly recomended by everyone's local pants222.

What about the CP Rail on/off? Would that work as well?

Yes, but then you have to get an asa. It is usually cheaper to just get a direct mount. Here would be my choice:

Cheap and effective.

How's it compare to the Direct Mount? And don't you mean I'd have to buy a rail? Or maybe I just have my facts screwed up...agh.

CP rail + CP on/off = pretty much the same deal as the CP direct mount on/off, except you have to use a rail to attach it onto your gun instead of slapping the on/off on the gun directly...
Direct mount = cheaper, and it won't make your gun as tall = OMG WIN

I have both, and I personally like the CP On/Off and Rail better than the direct mount, but you can't go wrong with either.

Sweet. You guys have been more than helpful. One final question: Just the regular CP Direct Mount is $25 and I'd prefer to have that one (less $). The on/off is about $50...so, I'm not exactly sure which one to get. This is according to froogle by the way.

If you get the non-on/off version, it's basically like any other duckbill. So either keep it stock or get an on/off version.
Also, you might want to look into the Hybrid Grind on/offs and Lucky ASA.

i've only used a unimount, but i can guarantee it's much better than your stock one. it's a rail + on/off, though the on/off can be hard to turn sometimes.

I have a CP direct mount on/off on my Ion, pick that one up it's nice to be able to degas your marker but have your airtank still attached for between games. It vents the air so you don't have to worry about a misfire as long as you've unscrewed the on/off.

Hybrid has good quality ASA's, but if I remember right they cost more than other ASA's.
