You have any idea what your price range is? For ultra low end, get a spyder imagine, otherwise save up $175 and get a Smart Parts Ion from a dealer on the PBNation forums.

You'll need at least a hopper, mask, and tank on top of that, as well as paint, so plan accordingly.

Do you think that a Spyder Electra is a good gun?

All you said is that you don't have unlimited money, care to narrow that down a bit?

Around $250

Well, I would definitely stay away from the Electra. An Ion for $175 would leave you around $75 for a mask, motorized hopper, and an HPA tank which wouldn't thrill me if I were shopping. However, if you were willing to save up a little more, I would do that. If not, you could get a refurbished SPyder Imagine for $63, then you could find a mask, hopper and co2 tank and be well under your $250 limit with some to spare for paint and field fees. I also think that would be a more reasonable first set up rather than an Ion.

Why does ever1 suggest the ion or the imagine, whats so good about them and why shouldnt I get the electra?

We would suggest the Electra if it were say $130, but it's $200 for a blow-back without eyes. Electra's have bounce(because of the rocking-trigger) so you cannot use an Electra in a tournament(if the tournament holder is smart). I would personally suggest a Vexor Eye. Comes stock with a regulator, eyes, and a higher ROF than the Imagine. I believe it also has some kind of twist-lock feedneck which is a big plus.

I would personally suggest the Spyder Imagine, which, refurbished, can be had for $64..And, with a cheap agitated hopper and a 47/3000 hpa tank, or c02, would be a cheap beginner setup..

The Electra is too expensive and isn't really that much of a step up from any other Kingman marker, so I'd suggest just getting a Refurbished Spyder Imagine, they're cheap, easy to use, and equally dependable as any other Kingman marker.

let me guess...the reason you want an electra is becuase the rocking trigger right? well let me just say that its a gimmick that most people end up hating anyways. the electra is WAY WAY WAY overpriced, and is basically a waste of money.

give me your price range, what games you like (woods, speed, air, etc.), how often you go paintballing, and I'll make you some decsent suggestions. and ill tell you why I made them too...

Vexor eye is still a blowback though. I'd reccomend saving up a little more and getting:

Ion - $175
used revvy/empire reloader - $30
47/3k HPA tank - $50

and then a mask. Somewhat over your limit, but it will be alot better in the long run.

I wanted the electra because of all the features it had. But the thing is, I didnt really know if it was a good deal or not because im new to paintball.Ive never really played before.I dont really want a cheap gun.My price range is between $200-250. I would probably play both woods and speedball, but i would most likely play woods more.Ive also been looking at the ion. ONE MORE THING. WHY DO PEOPLE SUGGEST THE IMAGINE SO MUCH?

True, but with your experience i would start with the Vexor Eye, unless you do want to save up more and get the Ion.

(imagine)its sooo cheap for the performance!!!! expecially for people that are new to paintball. the ion is really good its just gonna cost you about 350 after u get a tank and hopper. also if u want a gun that u dont really have to take care of and dont have to worry about it breaking on u get an a5. where do u live, i live in south florida and i know a bunch of places to play.

Your best bet would be a spyder imagine. Electras are gimmicks. They are not much better than any other spyders.

we recommend the imagine because you didn't give us your price range right off the bat. had we known you want to get someting for $200+ we wouldn't have recommended the $60 imagine. if you're prepared to spend $200-$250 then get an ion or 1st gen wrath, Ar-1 or slayer. those are your options. go check out the reviews on them and visit the forums to make your decision.

you will be very happy with it, just dont run it on CO2, make sure you get HPA. The Ion with be awesome for woods and plenty fast for speedball.

Since your a noob I recommend the empire reloader II for your hopper, sound activated, magnetic lid, and only $50 new so you can prob find it real cheap used.

for ups i would get a feedneck first, the CCM ones are really good. Then get either a trigger or ASA.

The ion can be ran off anti-siphoned CO2, lots of people do it. I'd get an egg over the Reloader 2. It feeds faster, yes the lid sucks, but you can get the z-board later to improve the speed. Feedneck, on/off rail, trigger, barrel are nice ups.

true you can run if off CO2 but liquid can still get in the gun. I have never used CO2 on my ion so idk how much you have too worry about it, I wouldnt worry too much. Just dont use regular CO2 and you should be fine.

Also a QEV is a really good up to get. I'd get it right after the feedneck. then the other stuff we've listed.
