I haven't played paintball in about a year, which means my 2250 paintballs are a year old...is there a way to test my paintballs to see if they are too old? thanks

Throw them up in the air, if they break when they land on the road it means the shell is too weak.

not true. if that was the case, then the paint i use would be too weak all the time. (i use thin shelled paint that breaks easily... which i like)
if you havent turned the paint in over a year, they are most likely garbage.
just try to shoot a few of them, if they shoot fine, then i would say play a few games with them.

hold one above your head, about 5 feet, then drop it. MAKE SURE IT DOESNT BOUNCE!!! Then, do it over and over again until it breaks. If it breaks within the 4-7 range, its fine. I wouldnt use anything in the extremes.

if you go to play sometime, get a couple new paintballs from a friend, then pinch one of those in your hand (to get a feel for how hard they are to break)
Then try the same thing with your year old ones.
but really... I wouldn't use them other than for target practise, I had a case leftover from last sept... and the balls are so hard that you really have to try to break them, and so dimpled they won't shoot straight.
My rule of thumb is: I won't shoot any paint I wouldn't want to get hit with, so you could either find someone to test shoot with a couple balls (or they could shoot you)

Just shoot a few of them and see what happens. It's not like it's going to hurt your gun or anything.
