View Full Version : $300 Project-- Getting a Marker

I am trying to decide which marker would be best for me. I really like a recball/speedball type gun that i can use to get started, and still be OK quality. I usually play some airball fields, and then some recball non-wooded fields. THey aren't necesarily speedball but like trenches or open hillside with some tires ect. So playing that and alot of speedball i was looking at getting my first marker. I really want a less than $300 original purchase, and can spend up to $100 a month after that.

ALot of my issue is economically not having like $500 to dump into it right off.

So I have a couple ideas. Seeing as i play alot of recball and want to get into scenario i was looking at hte A5. It is fast, and very upgradable. WIth a few minor tweaks it could be an ok speedball gun if i played a levelheaded mid. Nothing tournament type play at this point, jsut walk on and with some friends. m It will be great if i get into scenario. I am only worried about the weight, how much will a fully uped one weight? if i add a stock?

Along a more speedball gun i can't decide. i know i will want to buy some ups, but i have nothing right now so i need to get everything. I would really love to NOT spend that much. That is everything i need with the gun so it would be orperational as soon as i got it. Now that is everyhting i would need to operational as soon as i got the gun. Down the road i can put in about $100 a month so i can build the gun up as i go.

Now an ion looks nice. its cheap and great for the money, but it really isnt a $200 gun. I need to put in atleast $320-$330 plus a mask for it to actually work. I need a N2 tank and an egg to go with it. Do i need N2, or will it run on Co2? Everyone says Co2 will kill my internals if i get on ion, but if i A/S the tank, how often will anything actually get into the gun?

Im actually not even set on the ion, thats just an examply. I dont mind if the gun isn't an insane electro, and i would really prefer Co2, and up it to nitro or HPA later. I am also looking at a Spyder Electra, and possible a Diablo Wrath, although i havent research the diablo, just heard about it.

What do yall think? i have $300, maybe a few dollars more, and than can put more into it later.

What would u do in this situation?

might as well start off with something good and get the ion.
I'll give you what i'd get in your case

Ion - 200
ccm (stock feedneck suck) - 30
proto el - 30
crossfire 47/3K air tank - 72

total 332

Definitly try to save the extra money for the cross fire tank

If I were you I'd save up now. A/s tanks are possible, but not in high rates of fire, and aren't so nice in the long run. TheSpy runs his ion on a/s CO2. So if you can, save up for a few months and then get all the money together and get a full setup. (Ion, 68/4500 Crossfire, Halo B). If you really want CO2, the Wrath works better but the best performance w/ CO2 will be out of the EVO SE.

buy something cheap now, and buy an Ion later when you have about $500 to blow

Actually this is probably what I’m going to do for the moment. I have looked into quite a few markers and I think it is going to end up being something like this.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
Kingman Spyder Pilot ACS - Black / Blue (http://store.yahoo.com/paintballgate/kisppiacsblb.html) 109.95 <o:p></o:p>
HALO B w/ Rip Drive - Black (http://store.yahoo.com/paintballgate/halobwripdrive.html) 99.50 <o:p></o:p>
JT Spectra nForcer Goggle System - Black - Thermal (http://store.yahoo.com/paintballgate/jtnforthergo.html) 39.95 <o:p></o:p>
12oz Aluminum Tank with Pin Valve (http://store.yahoo.com/paintballgate/12altawipinv.html) 14.95<o:p></o:p>
Check It Spyder Sweet Spot Stick Trigger - Blue (http://store.yahoo.com/paintballgate/chitspswspst1.html) 17.95 <o:p></o:p>
Smart Parts Tear Drop - 14 Inches - Spyder - Blue (http://store.yahoo.com/paintballgate/smpatedr14in4.html) 34.95<o:p></o:p>
Dye Battle Swab (http://store.yahoo.com/paintballgate/dyebattleswab.html) 6.95 <o:p></o:p>
Empire Lube Gun Oil (http://store.yahoo.com/paintballgate/emlugunoil.html) 2.95 <o:p></o:p>
Subtotal for Paintball Gateway: 327.15<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
Remember I have NOTHING and this will be my first paintball equipment. Is there anything I am missing that will limit me from using or taking care of this gun as soon as I get it and put in the 9v battery? Anything for cleaning I am missing? Will the spyder feed neck support a halo b?<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Thanks, that is probably what I will do, but most likely something cheaper off of eBay.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Any suggestions or other tips I would appreciate.<o:p></o:p>

ok, i have been renting alot lately, and the 12oz is what they have.

How much does a 20oz weigh? that is awfully big when im trying to keep the gun & my profile as small as possible.

What do yall think aobut the weight/size?

20 oz is fine, I find teh 12 oz to be too small. But I would go for a Piranha EVO over the ACS, and skip teh teardrop, and trigger, you need to know if you like the stock parts first. If you hate them then order.

Yeah take the EVO or Vexor Eye over the Pilot.

For sure, get the EVO SE if you got the cash.

Both are good markers man, take the EVO though, that is just me.
If I could give you one more option, actionvillage.com has a Indian Creek BKO for 139.00?
