Hey, I got a Fenix a few monthes ago. I've put Dye Sticky3's, FBM Delrin Trigger, and Proto 14" Barrell onto it, and I'm having second thoughts about it. It shoots alright, and never chops, but Ion's are higher performance, and more upgradable, and all my friends have ION's and they are just better guns. Somebody post and tell me if I should Ebay my Fenix and get an Ion.

try to sell your fenix in your field because you will get a miserable amount of money if you sell it on ebay because there are online stores on ebay that sell NEW markers at an incredible low price which is hard to compete with.
So you should try to sell it among your friends, the people on your field or in this forum.

so I should sell it though?

IMO you should sell it if you want to have a gun with a higher performance

Don't sell it, get better with it first and save up. You will rock all yourfriends if you stick w/ your fenix and eventually upgrade. A few months with s gun? I'd say wait a year ir so.

Spyders are more upgradeable than ions. A stock ion is just quieter and less kick than a Fenix. Just because you buy an ion, that wont make you a better player. But a quieter marker with less kick will be more accurate. Its upto you. I just converted my Spyder to LP.

An ion has more than just less kick and quietness over a fenix;)

I say get better with your fenix, then sell it or keep it and move up to an Ion, or something even better, but don't expect to get better just because you have an Ion.

Going from a low end electronic gun (Fenix ACS) to a high end electro which is, in my opinion kind of edging on the line between low and high (Ion) is really not worth it. If the only reason you want to buy an Ion is because it looks better, or because its in the "high end electronic marker" category, or because all your friends say your gun sucks and theirs' is better, then don't buy it. If you want to sell it because your Fenix has some major problems or is always breaking, then you could get a new gun. I suggest going from the $150-$250 range of guns (Fenix) to about a $300-$500 is a pretty good upgrade/improvement. I recommend the Wrath LTD (closer to the $300 range), The Indian Creek Promaster (closer to the $400 range), or even some cheap timmys like the empire version just over $500, or the 2k5 versions also just over $500. Whatever you do, please don't get an Ion. I hate the damn gun and its the biggest trend ever and we have enough Ion owners on this forum. Don't support the trend, fight it;). Join the I hate Ions club with me...lol

P.S.- As many people have said, it's not the gun it's you. Don't think you'll start powning with a new gun, Ion or not you'll still play the same.

Why do you hate the Ion? Is it an inferior marker? Is it not a capable marker? Is it not a great deal? The fact that so many people own an Ion means that Smart Parts has created one of the best markers ever. There is a reason for this trend.

The Wrath isn't nessesarily better than the Ion, just different. The Wrath uses a blow-forward ram (Timmy) while the Ion uses a spool valve (Shocker)

Since when does price determine how well a marker performs?

I, personally would not get an ion because everyone already has one, and it is not very good looking IMO. BUT the ion is one of the best economy markers ever made. It's very low priced, and can be upgraded as you like. Although im not a fan of Smart Parts, i would have to say they did a fine job with this marker.

It doesn't. I never said it did. I only said that the Ion is a great marker for it's price.

I'd have to disagree, the Ion is different from a fenix, much different, when comparing the two stock, the Ion is better. But still, keep the fenix and improve and when you feel like you are at a level where your gun is holding you back, upgrade!

so your saying pretty much not to get the ion because you hate it for no reason at all? There is a reason it is a "trend" as you call it. any way if you want a marker that will perform better than your fenix is now, sell it and go for the ion. or you could get better, then buy the ion. I player 2yrs with a spyder myself. and the word is OWNING, NOT POWNING

no affence or anything but i wouldn't touch an ion with a 10 foot pole, they cut sooo many corners when making it, the body is made of plastic. don't get me wrong it is light but i wouldn't shoot one.

soccerjacks12

Have you ever used one? It sure sounds like you didn't. So what if the body is plastic, buy a metal one. And of course SP isn;t gonna make everything perfect and sell it for $200:rolleyes:, but it is freaking good for it's price. The only problem I have w/ it is the fragility of the board.

aside from the lower operating psi and such, you probably wont notice much difference.

I would seel the fenix becase ions are way better and because at a store brand new the fenix's are expencive people would buy it quick cause it is not even close to expencive compared to brand new

since brass eagle came out with the talon.....

j/p about that one, but it up to you, the ion is a better gun thaan your spyder, but you will also need to get more stuff than you have now, i dont remember your setup, but you will need antisiphoned co2, or hpa, you will also need a very good hopper if you want to get near the limit. if you want to get better as a player, and not use your ion as a crutch, then stick with your spyder. i think you should get better as a player, and then move up when you feel like your marker is preventing you from preforming at the level you think you can. if i were you, stick with the spyder, and get better at playing, not better at shooting faster.

and the word is Owned

Yeah, I started with a Fenix about a year and some months ago, and "upgraded" (if you can even say that) to an Electra about 5 months later. Then I sold the Electra a little less than a year after that, and bought an Ion. Guess what? My Fenix is still sitting on the floor in my room, waiting for me to do something with it. However, I'm actually upset I was rushed into upgrading so fast, because playing with a marker like that would have made me much better if I waited another year to get rid of it. The problem with that is that you'll need to start buying upgrades to make it decent for that year of use, all while the resale value continues to go down on them. Yes, I know, I just took a side and then argued against it in the same sentence... so here's an actual opinion: use the fenix for a few more months and get better at the game, learn to follow the guys that know more than you, imitate their movements with snaps and other techniques, and play the game for a while longer. Then buy an Ion and either sell the Fenix cheap in a package with some older gear to a new friend that wants to start playing, or part it out, which you can make a suprising amount of money by doing. Either way, wait and get an Ion eventually, they are the best deal you can get right now and probably will be the best for years to come.

See if you can find a feild that has an ion you can rent. Try playing a game with it and see if it feels any different. I personally think IONS are ugly but yes they do perform better. Its up to you if you thik the performance is worth getting a whole new gun.

Jacob Searle

Breene, that's the entire point of getting a new gun, for better performance

An ion dosnt chop allowing you to use crappier paint. Basically i have a high end karnivor and it shoots 3-6 month old spank that is discolored JUST fine. Oh by the way you can buy my omen 2.0 if you want 170 PM me.
