What does a QEV do for an A-5? Is it a good investment? Where does it go on the gun? Where are some places to get one? (online probably)

QEV stands for quick exhaust valve. It works by increasing the rate of the exhaust (your air source). Put it on a cyclone and by that logic your feed rate is increased. It goes where your normal banjo fitting goes.
Palmer's has qev stuff and so does Tippmann Parts.

You can buy off them over the net. A QEV is kind of like a banjo fitting just a bit bigger and yes the QEV goes where the banjo fitting on your cyclone goes.

I meant what is the banjo fitting? Is it the thing where the air goes into the cyclone? I searched ebay and everything and couldn't find any A-5 ones. They are all Ion QEV's.

Yeah... Banjo fittins are where the lines attach to. The reason for you finding no A-5 QEVs is because few people ever take their cyclone behond its stock capacity to feed.
But all QEVs work the same way but thats complex and I'm lazy:)

Maybe I'll just skip the whole QEV thing. Just stick w/ the E-Grip for now. That puts a big enough whole in my wallet.

Its pretty simple a qev but okay. If your getting a e-grip are you getting a dual trigger with that? If you ever want to shoot faster with your cyclone you WILL need a qev.

I don't think I'll get a double trig yet. I'll be able to fire fast enough for my needs with a single. I am about good aiming not spraying and praying like terrorists. (not to insult anyone that does that :wink3: )

yeah, even w/o a double trigger, if you take a stock e-grip to its maximum full-auto ROF, it will start to break balls; not many, but every once in a while if you try to shoot a long string at maximum ROF, a ball will chop.
I've also heard that newer e-grips include the WAS equalizer board. This would make the A-5 capable of up to 30 bps, and the stock cyclone will not feed reliably (sp?) above 17-18 bps. So if your e-grip is newer, you may find a QEV is necessary to unleash its full potential; or at least get above 18 bps. I have a QEV to keep up with my rampage, but the cyclone still tops out around 23 bps.
You can get one at palmers pursuit shot website for about 14 USD.

The thing is I don't like to shoot that fast. I will keep it around 10 bps or so. I don't like flying through paint that fast. I guess that wouldn't be a problem since I can carry 900 rounds in my SpecOps vest. Just the price bothers me.

In my opinion, if you are going to get a e-grip it makes sense to get a double trigger. A JCS dual trigger is the way to go. If you want to keep it single trigger, sell your e-grip and get a r/t. E-grips in full auto, burst fire, or anything beside semi-auto show no skill. Its very useless to have a single trigger with a e-grip. Its like going out, buying a car kit but forgetting to get a steering wheel to come with that kit.
Dual trigger gives you the BEST control over rate of fire if its on a electronic board. No dispute.

this upgrade alone has made me even consider upgrading to an A5..im a speedballer and ive lately learned to appreciate the woodsball as i played a lil woodsball this past weekend..but im gonna so need a faster gun pronto. ive heard them QEVs do wonders with the A5 cyclone..if you do rock the A5 then why not make it as nasty as it can get? just my opinion though..im a speedballer who rocks a 98 so what can i say?

You can say that your gun matches the A-5 for less money
QEV mods are utter insanity on the cyclone. Only problem is you eat ratchets like mad but new cyclone internals fix that.

I may use full auto. Mostly turbo, semi, and response. Maybe some 3 round burst.

To bad you can't change the modes of fire in a firefight.
