Hi guys (or gals), I was wondering what the dilio was on my solenoid. I played with my new imp for only the 3rd time and the solenoid started to leak. The gun shot and all, but I stopped for the day not wanting to do any more damage. I kept my pressure at around 150-160 psi so i know i didn't blow it up or anything. So is there any way to keep my solenoid from doing that again. I hadn't cleaned my reg yet at that point....would that have helped? I know cleaning is a big deal with the imp, but I thought the solenoid was one of the few things that I didn't have to mess with after some time.

sorry for my long winded story/question....anyone know what needs to be done so that my solenoid will be nice and happy?

by the way, I ended up sending my gun to smartparts to get that fixed late last week.

Did you buy this new? From who? What are you using (co2, or nitro) for air? If it's co2, do you have an anti-syphon device? Did you have the Imp apart and know for a fact it was the solenoid that was leaking? Have you taken the solenoid off before? Have you checked the gasket? Did you re-grease it before you put it back? Did you over tighten the screws?

I'm sorry to hit ya with so many questions, But there are alot of things that could come into play here. We need some of these questions answered before we can make or come to any conculsions.

Lets see....lemme answer all those questions.

Yes I bought this new from e-paintballoutlet.com. It is the VFF and delrin bolt...stuff like that.

I use nitro and only use nitro on it for now

Yes....I took the gun apart and it was the solenoid that was leaking. At first I didnt' think it was cuz the gun still shot, but it is the solenoid.

I have NEVER taken the solenoid apart. Partly because I can't get those dang screws off the solenoid housing. Those are on tight!!!

I guess that would mean the other questions are null and void since i've never taken the solenoid apart. ok thanks

I thought i'd mention some of the gun work i did on it. I decided to get a new set of hoses and a drop forward so I ended up get some steel braid goodness. I couldn't get my hands on loctite, but I used proloc(blue) which is home depot's version of it.

If its leaking from the solnoid, most of the time it is just the solonoid pad (the rubber gasket under the solonoid). Get a very small phlipps head screw driver and CAREFULLY tighten the screws. These screws tend to lossen up a bit when the gun ride in the airplane hold-- I think is that the virbration is just "right" to make screws vivrate out.

When tighting, turn one screw a very small amount, then the other- don't fully tighten one before you try to tighten the other.

If you still have a leak, try putting some soapy water around the base to the solonoid and wee where its blowing bubbles. If you endup needing a new pad, let me know and I'll drop in the mail to you.
