Throwing paintballs?

Last time I played there was this kid on my team who ran out of paint and so he basically just ran from bunker to bunker distracting the other team...and then he had this ingenious idea and started throwing paintballs at the other team. yes, you heard me correctly, threw paintballs.
Near the end of the game he was behind his his bunker, paintballs in hand, waiting (we were losing, he was the last person left) and the other team has wisened up that he was out of paint so one of the last 2 guys on the other team came up and asked him if he would surrender, he just turned and hurled a ball at the guy and hit him right in the hip - it broke. The guy refused to go off the field and the kid went hysterical (I don't see why, he couldn't possibly win).

Thats not a legit way to eliminate a player is it?

Your friend was "out of paint."

Yet he held paintballs in his hand.

Then how was he out of paint!? The balls were in his hand!

Unless specific provisions against throwing paint are made, it is a perfectly legal and legitimate way to eliminate a player. I saw a player who was out of air run up to "bunker" someone with a full pod with the top open. When he came around the top, he launched all the paint out of the pod onto the other player, and a couple of em broke against the other players mask, giving him an elimination and the win

Yup, it's perfectly legal. You can also take your barrel off and shoot "blow-gun" style if you run out of air. A break is a break.

It's not illegal at all, nor should it be. Everyone has the same oppurtunity. However, if you get eliminated by someone throwing paintballs at you, you should be ashamed.

It was, it was funny as hell. They were paintballs he picked up off the ground...the funny part wasn't when he got that guy but watching him run around chucking paint and the other team (the balls were banging against their bunkers but not breaking I don't know what he was smoking)
