Howdy,

I don't expect that too many here will be able to help, but I figure there might be one or two old hands that have knowledge of the pro am.

I am fixing to buy a low/mid serial number pro am (all metal, even handguard) just for kicks and perhaps to use when I don't feel like pumping. Being a 68 carbine owner, I have no experience with the proam/prolite series but I do know that there is supposed to be a major difference in the valve. I have a later 68 carbine that has the same valve as the pro/carbine (CVX) and am curious what the performance differences are between a prolite/proam operating system and that of the 68 carbine/procarbine. I am not concerned about modifiability or the configuration of the gasline- just the valve internals.

Thanks a bunch,
John

The CVX valve in the Pro Carbine and later models stays stationary while cupseal moves inside it. In the Pro-lite and older models, the cup seal and pin stay still and the entire valve body moves. Here's some better info:

Thanks, that is exactly the kind of thing I was after!
