yesterday, when i was playing pball at my field i was asked to surrender, at the time i was kneeling. At this point i didnt say anything and went to get my barrel plug when i saw the nicely holstered pt so i went hmmm. the guys standing their so i act like im getting my barrel plug but i got my pt and popped him 2 shots. He was so f*ing pissed. I just thought that it was pretty funny and neat

Which is why, if you happen to get behind someone, the best way to ask for them to surrender is with 3 shots to the back :)

WTF!!! IF YOU EVER DID THAT TO ME, I WOULD SHOVE THAT PT EXTREME RIGHT UP YOUR *** AND PULL THE TRIGGER TWICE! HE WAS TRYING TO DO YOU A FAVOR BY NOT SHOOTING YOU AND HURTING YOU, AND YOU SHOOT HIM??!? I CANT BELIEVE YOU WOULD BE DUMB ENOUGH TO PULL SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

As a matter of a fact, that was not a favor seeing as how he was getting me outa the game

What would you rather have had him do? Just blast you in the chest or back from close range and get a ton of welts? Or would you rather just have him say surrender? I know I would rather just surrender. I think he was doing you a favor by not blasting you at close range, then you turn around and blast him. It just seems kinda wrong to do something like that, doesn't it? If somebody does this where I play, they have to leave for the day (yes it has happened to me).

i dont think he was doing a favor, he was doing it so it wouldnt get yelled at, which is what would happen if he came up behind you and shot you.

i see what ur saying but its either me or him, if he really wanted to be nice he wouldnt bother me. :)

Exactly

02-13-2002, 12:56 PM
According to what you two just said, if you sneak up behind somebody, you should just let them shoot you??? It doesnt really make much sense. Tell the person to surrender, and if they dont, then blast him. And you should be the one getting yelled at for picking up a pt and shooting somebody after they obviously had you out, IMHO!

So many arguemants and bad feelings and ruined days are caused by bu||**** like this. If you see someone within your sight SHOOT HIM. Then there is no confusion or anything. You just look at the paint on the guy and thats it. Now some would complain that it hurts to get shot at close range. You dont like it....call youreself out. You allways have that option.

02-13-2002, 01:09 PM
Just my opinion here, I notice a lot of people think differently......

Once again, I somehow see both sides of the argument...

That was awful not-nice of you to pretend to be going out, then attack. Just like dead man's walk, which in my opinion is a cowardly move. It detracts from the realism, as dead people don't walk across the field. But we've already beat that issue to death.

On the flip side of the coin, the other guy, if he was truly in charge of the situation, should have lit you up like Chernobyl as soon as he saw you reaching for the sidearm. You didn't provide confirmation to the surrender by signaling acquiesence, so that in itself is reason enough to cause you a bunch of pain. Though if you did raise your hand or otherwise indicate surrender before you noticed the sidearm, then yes, you were being a poor sport pure and simple.

I'm happy that you people have this "Never say die" attitude toward the game, but if someone owns a situation, give them credit where it is due. If they catch you by surprise, then fair's fair, and just wait until next game and be more vigilant.

Just about every game I know of you have the right to decline a surrender. If you don't rase your hands or call yourself out he should have just shot him. He was within his rights to shoot as far as I am conserned. You can't expect someone to surrender just because you want them too. Expecially if there is no rule in the game saying you have to accept a request to surrender. Which I think would be kind of a dumb rule.

Yes, if I am asked to surrender, I do have the choice to decline, or accept. Upon declining the surrender, the person has full rights to shoot the person that did not surrender. However, there was no cheating involved, I did not say a word about anything, I just put down my gun and turned a little bit so it would be hard for him too see it and made my move which is following the rules. I did never really care about getting hit, so in my eyes it was either me getting out, or making a try to not get out. It was partly the other guys fault, fore he should of made me show clearer evidence of the surrender. At my field you are supposed to surrender because of the close range you may be at, however if the person does not then you can shoot at him. Once again I made no signs of me being out exept for putting down my gun, for all he knew I could be reaching to get some balls and try the lame attemp of loading my hopper and shooting him. Che guevara, I see your point but I dont care about getting shot, if I get lit up trying to win than thats too bad. I will never surrender because thats not like me. Your points are well taken Bellseye, but this is not in any way taking away from the "realism". If you mean the realism of a war, at any given time could somebody be asked to surrender and pull out a side arm and do his thing.

I guess i misundestood some. I thought you had given up and then shot. Since you didnt give up, its an ok move (although I wouldn't do it!)

I have made TONS of guys surrender. You gotta be careful though. TRicky ones won't answer, then try and fast-draw ya....

you just have to keep the bead on them and intimidate the crap out of them... 90 percent of the time, they will piss their pants and surrender. NEVER EVER take your gun off them until they plug the barrel, or stand and put it above their head, or whatever the rule for "out" is at your course.

Usually i will say "Surrender!" if they dont immediately do it, i will then get REALLY loud and say, "DO YOU SURRENDER NOW!!!?" forcing the action to them. if they say no, sux to be them.

One time i ran out of ammo, so i just charged the guy, dove over the bunker, stuck my gun in his face, and walked away with the win. final guy on their side, too.

:)

just my 2 cents.

like twich said, i ussually ask for them to surrender while im pulling the trigger. Because where i am playing, they allways decline, and i HATE fire fights with semis... i always loose.

well what you did wasn't very nice, but its his fault for letting you grab it. if i say surrender they have 'bout 2 secs to say they surrender, if they turn or dont reply, ill shoot twice . . .

I had a guy do the same thing last year... I used to own a PT so I am well aware of the sound it makes when its pulled from a holster.. I got behind this "Sniper" and whispered "hey buddy, what are we looking at" and he turns around.. I calmly said.. time to grab a drink eh? and he starts to get up.. I then hear that oh so familiar noise of the pt being removed from the cloth holster, and soon as i saw him look at me and his little shiney gun in his hand I gave him a shot right between the eyes with my tippmann.. send him flat on his ***.. i calmly said "if you dont mind.. i beleive you were on your way to get a drink" and he left...

I know i was to close to shoot the guy.. but it was not by suprise.. and i intentionaly didnt hit him in any fleshy area for his stupidity.. but at the same time i wasnt about to be shot out of the game by being a nice guy and letting my guard down since he didnt acknowledge being sent on his way.

I personally agree with what this person did. It makes it more realistic. If you're being surrendered, you see the opportunity you take it. If I had a chance to do this then I would. It's a smart move which deserves applause in my opinion.

(and now done my ranting I await the flamming to start)

Ok surrendering is for the newbies that have never played paintball. What kind of pansy field do you go to where if you bunker someone you go home. Play a tournament che. Then when you get plastered 5 times from 3 feet you wont think shooting someone twice w\a pt is bad. Nice move batman!

Batman
02-15-2002, 06:24 PM
Thanks, both of u. pbrulez you right, when i shot him he was pissed i shouldve said take a step in my shoes and get shot up the chest to neck with 5 balls and then youll be pissed :)

This is why when you try and bunker people....you have your marker aimed at them so if they DO try something they get a different color of clothing.

There is a game for those who can't take the welts. Laser Tag.

Any gimp who is going to try to get me to surrender better do so with his crosshairs on me all the time. The only exception I would give is the Rambo rule (touch them they are out). Anyone who can sneak up close enough to put a mitt on you deserves the elimination.

What ever goes on the field goes, everyone knows the rules. Your responsible for your actions. Do what you want.
