Hi i was just wondering which size of barrel is better 14 inch or 12 inch? Im in a little trouble see, if i get a 14 inch (04' tear drop) it has to be in shining silver so its bad for woodsball, but i only can get 12 inch in black.

Edit

Or a 14 inch progessive 06' in black?

it doesnt effect your game, so its what you prefer

i like 16s for woodball and 12s for speedball. it'll depend on the marker too, as some marker mount they're barrels much further into the body effectively reducing the length of the barrel. an older angel mounts barrel about an inch deeper than most other threading out there so a new angel owner would be a wise to choose a 16'' if he/she likes the feel of a 14'' with cocker threads.

the 16 allows me to poke my barrel out through brush to take shots while still make use of the cover provided by the brush. a 12'' is a tad too short for woodball IMO. yes, you can paint the barrel. keep both ends of it pluged up and cover the porting as well. use an automotive paint or something made to specifically bond to metal surfaces.

Imho it depends on marker type and your playng style. Some markers are nearly even so long with 12" barrel like others with 16" barrel. In woods long rifle do not embarrass you much (even with long 16" barrel only few markers are longer than real weapons like first M-16), but in buldings you can have problem.

I prefer either short ~9" unportet barrels or long 16" barrels with porting on my markers. Shorter are good for indoors, longer in woods. Some pumps can be very good supressed with long barrel with porting (you can not hear them from 100 feet).

Imho the main difference in between of 12" and longer barrel is in loudness - in accuracy, range and even in efficiency of CO2 usage is not perceptible difference here.

From my point of view Teardrop is great barrel. In 12" or 14" I prefer Teardrop prior to J&J Ceramic - it has too gradual porting for this lenght imho.

There should be no problem with painting your barrel when you do not use some unique very aggressive paint. But if you will have durable paint, you need grind away the original paint first... with is more durable as anything what you can make. For black finish it is imho better use black electrician sticky tape on your barrel - it sounds stupidly, but works good.

There should be no difference... only look and price. But I like Teardrop better.

thanks for the help, in case your wondering i got a 06 black progressive. if i got a teardrop i would have to spend an extra 5 bucks or so, and with that money i could just get a black progressive. no difference it seems.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :(
Unless you have a marker with eyes, you're going to hate yourself. Once you chop or get a barrel break, game over for you until you run water through it. I was going to say get a CP barrel because if you chop or break paint, shoot a few paintballs and you're accuracy is back. Not 100% but good enough that you won't need to use a squeegee

First, I think that markers do not break balls, dumb people do it. With good adjusted marker with good paint there is no problem with breaks... when you do not must have limit rate of fire of your marker setup. And I don't think that Progressive or Teardrop are harder to clean than, for example, J&J Ceramic... or that something as self-celaning effect really works in real world. Imho Progressive is very good barrel and he will be satisfied with her... as many others.

So how does a dumb person cause the blowback in a spyder the sends a ball up as the bolt is slamming foward?

And run a battle swab thru a J&J or a CP and then run the same one thru a Progressive or a Teardrop...wanna tell me which ones rip the fuzz off the swab?

Don't get me wrong, the progressive is an accurate barrel, I've had one and a teardrop, but once I switched guns and got a CP I noticed that I wouldn't have to replace swabs every other time I went to the field.

So in conclusion the progressive/teardrop while accurate are not not so forgiving on squeegees.

buy a 14'' CP 1-piece

it will perform better than a teardrop or progressive

LOL!! Thats funny.... but you have a small point here....if you have a fast hopper and your marker is performing fine then you wont break paint, or shouldnt at all. But for barrels.....
CP 14" is what I would go with. ;)

The progressive is poor for accuracy by the way.... on par with a stock kingman barrel.
