Ok, I had a tippy 98 custom, but I sold it and got an ion. Now I want another woodsball/backup speedball gun. So I want to rebuild this tippy with all upgrade parts. Barely any stock parts unless the parts that have to be stock. NO FLATLINE BARRELS!!!! Pkease try and follow this form below:

Barrel-
Bolt-
Trigger (needs to be light and fast)-
ASA or drop forward-
Reg/expansion chamber-
Endcap-
Feedneck-
Springs-

Anything else please post. Thanks, paintballa665

Barrel - J&J Ceramic
Bolt - Stock (Don't waste you money)
Trigger - Rufus Dawg
ASA - Smart Parts Rail and On/Off... Unless you have a BIG tank. Then a Shocktech Drop with the On/Off
Reg - Take you pick. The differences in the quality ones (CP,Palmers, Etc) is just a personal preference. I use an Empire that is shimmed up to hit the pressure needed by my tippmann
Endcap - Stock (See Bolt)
Feedneck - Go with a Cyclone. No batteries to fuss with!
Springs - Don't have an opinion.

This my thoughts on the matter. Always remember, that marker part choices are like flavors at Baskin-Robins. Nobody is wrong as long as they are happy with what they get.

Good, except the Endcap would be better as a Rear Velocity Adjuster, like a Spyder... I hate Tippmanns Adjuster... Or one of those Cocking things that make it look like a Cocker.... I think those look so cool on TIppmanns...

I have a cp reg on my ion, so if I just switched it on my tippy wen im not usin my ion, will i have to keep adjusting it?

Probably, because I think they operate on totally different pressures...

ok. Is there a difference on accuracy with the j&j ceramic and the j&j ceramic s2?

I think just looks, but Id go s2. Newer is always better...

...an e-grip would also be a worthy investment.

Well, Id say Rear Velocity Adjuster or the Cocker Cocking System (its name escapes me at the moment..) RVAs make it easier to adjust velocity, and the Cocker Cocking System just makes it look super sweet...

It's a very nice system, flush cocking and it's just amazing. RVA and cocking system, and hammer protector all in one...
Too bad they're a pain to find now.

Newer is always better...

No so my friend:)

It has been years since I had a 98, but are the endcaps aluminum? If so, he could make his own rva by tapping out the endcap and putting in an allen set screw. He could then buy a shorter velocity screw that could be turned flush into the valve body yet not protrude too far into the valve. This ought to boost efficiency; it works great on one of my 68 carbines.

The Empire Strikes Back is WAY better than a New Hope... So there... ;)

Ok, so I'll go full boar. Is that everything I should get? Anything else that I should get that will increase performance or efficency? How bout the dark horizon lite titanium hammer? Thanks, paintballa665

It's supposed to be sweet but for woodsball I would consider it a bit of a waste. Don't get a cyclone. It's not worth it. Get a Rico e-hopper.

DeathKobra, I know a lot about a tippy 98, nd those choices you jus picked, do not sound ne good at all. First off, why would u use compressed air with an expansion chamber? lol, ne1 else?

Barrel - J&J Ceramic S2
Bolt - Stock, don't waste your money
Trigger - Whatever floats your boat, Ruffus Dawg seems to be popular.
ASA or Dropforward - Remote line FTW!
Reg/expansion chamber - ACI Sub-Zero 6 stage, Tippman, DOP X-Core 8 stage, or else a Palmers Stabalizer (stab is better, but costs at least 2x an x-chamber)
End cap- Rear cocking system, or RVA, whatever you like best.
Feed neck- Cyclone for the win. It'll feed as fast as you can shoot, doesn't chop, and best of all, NO BATTERIES!
Springs - Not really sure
Gas - 20 oz on a pack.

Might also want to consider getting an E-grip (if it's a new 98C) or an R/T.
