What do you think is the feature that makes this gun so great and popular, all stock.

Whenever I play with mine, I am completly confident that it will work just fine and not break down like several other guns.

1. Durability- You can run over this thing with a truck and it will still fire.

2. Reliability- It will always shoot when you pull the trigger. I have beat the hell out of mine....still shoots as if I just took it out of the box. Try that with a Cocker.

3. Upgradability- You can do anything conceived of for paintball to this marker. Use it stock as a newbie, upgrade the hell out of it for a competent tourny grade marker.

4. This is a very popular marker. Some people complain about this. "Oh, look. There's another guy with a Tippmann." Yes, they are a tad common, but they are common for a reason. They are the most reliable markers out there. Why do you think every PB field stocks Tippmans as their rentals? Because it will still work tomorrow after a newbie abused it for 5 hours today. Plus, because it is common, every PB field proshop and PB store will have parts for your marker. Trying to get parts for some other brands can be frightening.

5. Tippmann owners rule!!

duribility and upgradeability by far is the best. You can throw it off a cliff, burn it and it will work. Ok ok its not that durable. But it never needs timing adustmensts or for that matter any adjustments. It will always fire and with a few simple upgreades you can have a marker just as good as the best autococker.:)

Does anyone honestly believe that a tricked Tippmann is better than a tricked cocker? I mean, Tippmanns are upgradable and all, but a tricked custom 98 is about the same as a stock cocker. I agree that the Tippmanns are reliable, durable, and a great value for the price, though. And cockers can act up quite a bit. Its difficult to even compare them, however, because they are two different classes of gun. The Tippmann is definitely the best mid-grade/ blowback gun around. And the custom has the adjustable trigger add-on. Jay

Well. I really do. Even though its open blot blow back I still say the tippy have advangates over the tricked out cocker.

Well, I'm not saying you're wrong, b/c it is a personal opinion, but you pay for what you get. In my opinion, if a cocker can compete w/ angels and other electros, I am interpreting your statement to say that Tippys can too. You probably don't mean it like that, but that is just my perspective.

See if you accually got the E-bolt, HP kit, A good barrel, say the Freak, Drop forward, Revy. What does a cocker got besides being closed bolt and mainence heavy. Like you said you get what you pay for. So if you invest a $1000 into a tippy, you'd be on the cocker level I'd say. I am just throwing ideas, really you probably can't get a tippy up to part with a cocker, but you'd be close.

If you have $1000 to invest in a tippy, you shouldve bought an electro or something. Closed bolt doesn't better performance, either. However, the internals of cockers are completely different than a tippmann, and, although more complex, gives the gun certain advantages.

Like I said I was just throwing ideas, I would never invest $1000 into my tippy, If I was that serious I would get a cocker or angel. You are right the internals are better. Its just that you don't have to keep up a tippy lilke you do a cocker or angel. Anyway Like I said just throwing ideas around. How does the Freak preform on a tippy you know?

Tippys have a lot less upkeep. I know it sounds like I am contradicting everything you guys say, and I am not trying to intentionally, but I heard the freak system wasn't worth it. You should probably get two different sized barrels, and just stick with them.

Okay I am an owner of a Spyder Shutter(a nicely upgraded one :p) and have used many other Spyders how do you think the C98 compares to them? Or any other marker similar to the Spyders, you like Piranha?

The design of the elbow,(or should I say FEED!...happy now?) is what sold me on it.
When I first checked out the 98 it was that single thing, everything else is just icing on the cake!

You bought a gun b/c you liked the elbow? Do you mean feed? It doesn't really have an elbow, its just part of the feed.

And by the way, I like the "Tigger Pull" !

Yeah the Trigger pull is nice!(just should have a double trigger like other guns in that price range, in my opinion) But anyway, how do you guys think a c98 compares to Spyders/Piranhas? Reliability wise, and heck performance wise?

I think the stock tippy out preforms a lower stock spyder (such as a TL) It might not have the ROF (mainly due to the lack of a double trigger) but it doesnt break.
All my friends and I got our guns at pretty much the same time, 2 of us got a 98c, one a Spyder TL, 2 Raptors, a Pro/Carbine, and some Stingrays.
The guy who got the TL is now selling the TL and getting a 98c. It chops paint so bad its sickning. It worked for half a day, and then for some reason, it chops terrible. We cant figure out why either. Im going to put my 12v Revy on it today though and see if that helps any. But anyways his 98 is in the mail.

After a few upgrades though, I think a 98 blows any spyder out of the water (including the electro ones.)
My 98 shoots VERY fast (after a double trigger and a trigger job). The bigshot makes it as accurate as any other gun.

Plus I love the feel of the Tippmann, to quote the movie "Snatch", "The weight is a sign of reliablility"

I am very confident in my gun

Well I dont know for sure if a c98 is more reliable than a spyder(I think it is slightly more reliable than a Piranha/Spyder). I have a Spyder Shutter, and three other people that I know have one and they dont have any problems, and Niether do I! Your freind, Cloud, might be shooting really bad paintballs, or his gun just might need to be cleaned, oiled, parts might be in wrong, or low on co2?, or he did get a bad gun. But anyway thanks for posting your views.

Yea, I dont know though, it was BRAND NEW. It will only shoot if the barrel is off of it, but when the barrel is on, its a blender.

I love my Tippy, even though it weights a ton, it shoots great!
