I dunno about that, but it may work. If I were you, I'd just take a trip down to wall mart and pick up some hoppes 9.

what about silicone i use that in my remote controle car's shocks has and it has the same kind of o-rings as the gun but smaller and there made of the same metal too

Silicone might be good. I've often thought about using a lubricant with silicone in it. Try it out, can't hurt as long as you don't use so much that it gets in your valve. Should make the insides buttery smmmooottthhh. let me know how it works if you decide to use it.

Good deal! I'm going to pick some up soon,

Yeah, I wouldn't use wd-40 anyway, I've heard it has a chemical that will disolve o-rings. But that could be ancedotal information...

Do not use R/C silicone shock oil in your marker!!! It's too thick. Some sort of lubricant with silicone in it may be fine. I'm an avid R/Cer as well as paintballer. That oil was designed as a dampener, not a lube. It will get gummy over time. I'm sure you know this if you've ever rebuilt your shocks.

NEVER use WD-40 in your marker. I don't care what other o-rings you have used it on, paintball o-rings get dissolved when they are exposed to WD-40. Never use silicone, or any synthetic oil unless you marker's manual specifically calls for it. I personally use Hoppes-9 and i've never had a problem. Or you can go to a pro shop and get even better oil.

Believe me, if you want to ruin your marker, use the wrong oil!

Go to a Gander Mountain, or other sporting goods store and get a bottle of Hoppes #9 gun oil. This is nearly the same stuff that Tippman sends with the gun.

Don't accidentally use solvent! Make sure it says Hoppes #9 on the bottle.

don't use silicon!!! it is way to thick. and don't use vegie oil either!!! buy gold cup oil from you nearest paintball dealer!:blah:

Its a proven fct that solvents in WD-40 do eat at urethane o-rings and causes leaks. NOT a good idea to use WD-40. Oh and, Use Silicone works pretty good on markers FOR SHORT TERM USE (silicone sometimes gunks up in the gun and sometimes hardens when in comes in contact with the metals they use)Veggie oil is also ok FOR SHORT TERM USE(in creased friction on this oil makes it dry up mainly because it wasent ment to be used like this)

These both have the same solvents and toxic cleaners as in WD-40 so thats not a good idea.

And yes, PMI Gold cup oil works well on Tippmanns (Works better than hoppes #9 I think)

my grandpa has been an avid hunter for all his life and has cleaned his guns probably a million times (not an exaggeration) and i asked him about paintball oil. he said that it is the same things as hoppes #9. he then gave me a huge bottle. the point is to use only paintball gun oils or hoppes #9. wd40 is horrible for your gun. ooh, and if for some reason not related to the sear at all, your tippy goes full auto, it could be b/c of too much oil. mine did it yesterday and after a few dry fire shots, it was fine.

it even says stuff about putting a few drops of 3 in 1 oil on o'rings and about putting a few drops of 3 in 1 or sewing machine oil in the asa then dry firing with no barrel etc. both of those oils are on the recomended list along with vasoline.

Kay guys, don't use WD-40 no matter what any one says. Your gun will shred its o-rings and then it will shred your internals and gasses will be spewing forth from all your markers major Orpheus's. You can use the hoppe's to get by, but if you have to go buy some, try going to wally mart and getting some proper paintball oil from them. Or better yet just try and get some proper paintball oil. Hoppes will help you get by, but I don't recommend replacing the real stuff with it.

and gasses will be spewing forth from all your markers major Orpheus's. Heh, sounds like wd-40 gives your gun paintball dysentery. I'll be sure to feed mine vaccines of propper paintball oil.:)

Hey cocker notice I said its not a good IDEA I never said don't do it. Thes do work but, they can sometimes have the same efect on your seals and internals as WD-40. So Just to clear that up I never said don't use these oils. (And also, where exactly does it list these oils in the manual? it doesn't even say that in Tippmanns Airsmith guide to the Model 98 and Model 98 Custom)

Hold up, Cocker Manual? wtf? You know A M98 isn't a cocker, Right? and you can use some synthetic oils in cockers that you can't use in an M98? You should have said cocker manual in the first place (you had like half the people that read this post looking through the M98 manual to find where it says this)
